Job Description:
As the Yolo High Wheelers In-House Scorekeeper, you play a crucial role in scoring and denoting the action of live baseball games. You will work closely with our production team and Official Statistician to ensure accurate and immediate information is delivered per play to our audience. Your main responsibility will be to operate the scoreboard scoring system during the production and broadcasting of live baseball games.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the scoreboard line score system to send GIP information to the scoreboard and broadcast per gameplay occurrences.
- Collaborate with the Official Statistician to score each play by following the game action closely.
- Set up scoring equipment and troubleshoot technical issues with scoring equipment as needed.
- Communicate effectively with the production team as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience scoring baseball games in a professional capacity preferred.
- Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions in a live broadcast environment.
- Expert in all the nuisance and rules of baseball and resolving a play and/or scoring decisions to the utmost accuracy.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative production environment.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as baseball games can occur during non-traditional working hours.
- A passion for baseball and a desire to watch and illustrate the essence of the game.
Compensation:
The offer range for this part time seasonal position is $16 per hour and this position runs from mid May to the end of the season in mid September.
