The Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County (SEA) develops first class sports, entertainment, recreational, and convention venues to benefit Pittsburgh’s economy and improve quality of life.
  
GENERAL: The Marketing Manager is responsible for comprehensive public affairs work programs (ex. digital/social media, event management, community relations, marketing, media relations, and public information) for the Authority.  You will plan, organize, direct, and coordinate activities with other Authority departments and business partners.  The Marketing Manager reports directly to the SEA Executive Director, developing marketing plans and creating effective messaging for Authority programming, resources, and services.  And accurately manages sensitive topics and promptly responds to crisis communication.
  
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Main areas of responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
 
1.     Marketing: Develops, recommends, and implements comprehensive communications and marketing plans to increase awareness and showcase the Authority. Works closely with Authority staff to produce timely marketing campaigns. Oversees needs assessment to better influence marketing strategies.
 
2.     Media Relations: Recommends and implements a media relations program, working closely with staff as required. Reviews news releases and supports team that promotes department programs, projects, services, and facilities. Provides guidance on how best to respond to news media inquiries. 
 
3.     Digital Communications: Develops, recommends, and implements a comprehensive Authority wide digital strategy utilizing social media and other digital tools for communicating with the community. Drafts and posts social media content that is relevant, in line with the Authority’s mission, timely and accurate. Works closely with other divisions and sections to identify opportunities for digital promotion. Identifies new and emerging tools for increasing engagement.  
 
4.     Intergovernmental Liaison: Work with other governmental agencies, community groups, foundations, and businesses to communicate the SEA’s position and input on various topics.
 
5.     Event Hospitality Management: Create a plan to utilize venue hospitality for productive business and economic development activities.  Facilitate the distribution and record keeping of the ticket inventory for all venue hospitality with approval of the Executive Director.
 
 
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  2. At least 8 - 10 years of work experience in marketing, communications, or public relations, including digital marketing.
  3. Must have strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills and experience.
  4. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  5. Strong oral communication skills
  6. Ability to deal directly with public and staff
  7. Work independently with limited supervision; exercise good professional judgment; and manage professional service firms.
 
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:  Must live or be willing to relocate to Allegheny County, PA.
 
This role is 100% in the office.
