Staff Accountant

We are looking for a diligent Staff Accountant to join our Finance Department. As our Staff Accountant you will be responsible for all aspects of accounts payable and accounts receivable, review of travel spending, and working with managers to approve monthly expense reports, performing monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, and assisting with close processes. You will also assist the Senior Accountant and Controller as needed and respond to information requests by management. In this role, you will gain new experiences in the sports industry, learn a high impact business from the ground up, and have the opportunity to take on more responsibilities as you grow within the organization.
What you’ll do:
- Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash transactions.
- Monitor and take ownership of centralized accounting inbox, ensuring all correspondence and attachments are appropriately filed and organized, internal and external stakeholders are replied to timely, and all matters are brought to resolution.
- Review and analyze corporate credit card and travel spend within our existing software to ensure cardholders are in compliance with corporate spending policies and identify any trends in expense activity.
- Reconcile corporate travel card activity, post journal entries, and ensure all charges are accrued and recorded correctly for month-end close.
- Assist with monthly close processes, as needed.
- Assist the Finance and Management Team as needed.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field from an accredited university (preferred)
- At least 2-5 years of accounting experience
- Experience with Sage Intacct preferred but not required
- Working knowledge of, MS Office (Including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams),
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills and ability to build authentic, collaborative relationships
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent problem solving skills
More about the role:
- Travel: Less than 10% of the time
- Work Schedule: Full-Time Monday – Friday (40 hours/week OT-Exempt)
- Compensation Structure: Salaried (paid semi-monthly) this position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on employee and company performance
- Location: Hybrid – Sylvan Lake, MI – This position will regularly work at least 3 days per week on-site at the RCX Sports office in Sylvan Lake, MI and may occasionally work from home.
