The Columbus Crew is offering a season-long part-time position in our Marketing Department. The Mascot Performer will serve as the mascot for the 2024 and assist in the planning and execution of a variety of events with the Energy Crew Internship team. This position reports to the Coordinator, Marketing and is based at the Municipal Light Plant Building in Columbus, Ohio.  

Opportunities & Responsibilities 

  • Perform as Crew Cat at home matches for the 2024 MLS Season and in the surrounding areas for various functions and events 

  • Attend match day meetings 

  • Schedule engagements with outside events for mascots to make the Crew brand more visible 

  • Assist in evaluating performers for backup opportunities 

  • Assist in the scheduling of the Marketing Energy Crew interns. 

  • Demonstrate and maintain Crew brand standards while serving as an ambassador of the brand 

  • Create the script for Crew Cat during matchdays and events which includes promotions, seat visits, contests, etc. 

  • Provide a fun, entertaining and positive experience by interacting and engaging with all guests during activations, events, and matches  

  • Promote the Crew by creating a positive and exciting atmosphere while interacting with guests, sponsors, and supporters 

  • Maintain Crew Cat costume and props 

  • Assist guests with various Matchday elements 

  • Assist with additional Crew grassroots and marketing events as needed 

 

Required skills, experience & abilities 

  • Previous mascot performance preferred (collegiate/professional) 

  • Basic knowledge of soccer required 

  • Max of 20 hours per match week paid hourly 

  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age 

  • Ability to attend all regular and post-season Crew home matches, including evening and weekend assignments 

  • Must be able to lift and maneuver a minimum of 50 pounds 

  • Must be able to climb ladders, carry, walk, sit, push, pull and move continuously during work hours 

  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, including strong and confident verbal communication skills. Customer service experience a plus 

  • Able to work independently and with a team 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment 

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays 

  • Knowledge of the Columbus Crew and prior marketing experience preferred 

  • Dependable transportation to and from appearances 

  • The ability to multi-task, establish priorities and work well in a fast paced and team environment 

  • The ability to think and work in a creative atmosphere and share ideas openly 

  • Live in the Columbus, OH metro area
