Facility Operations/Event Staff: Security
General Description:
Security Coordinator will assist in the day-to-day operations and event-time operations of the Security Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
  • Scheduling and supervision of full and part-time security personnel
  • Production and tracking of Toyota Center ID Badges and tracking of Rockets credentials
  • Coordination of activities with other departments and outside agencies
  • Training of security personnel to include reviewing and updating Post Orders and policies
  • Oversee the inventory and maintenance of department assets
  • Assist in the development of plans for events
  • Traffic planning for major events
  • Coordination of multi-modal transportation systems relating to major events
  • Assist guests with security related issues
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities for assigned staff in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing issues and solving problems and regularly communicating with staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Above average working knowledge of Excel, Access, and Word program
  • Knowledge of budgets and budget processes
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • At least two (2) years' experience in Arena or Stadium security operations, event planning or related field.
  • Possess or be eligible for a Non-Commissioned Security License
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use handle, or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, communicate with others.
  • The vision requirement includes the ability to review written and electronic materials in both digital and physical format.
  • The employee must be able to transfer and move items for departmental needs weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee must be able to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed considering the strong focus on external communications and relationships.
