Summary 
The Security Manager is responsible for overseeing daily security operations, management and performance, ensuring the safety of guests, employees, and property at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. This role involves managing the security team, coordinating security efforts for events, and implementing safety procedures and emergency protocols.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Assists with development and maintenance of security and safety policies, programs, and standard operation procedures to protect and minimize facility liability exposures and losses. Assists with implementation of improvements/changes as needed.
  • Uses Ungerboeck event management software to review event needs in preparation and development of weekly security staff schedule. Prepares and posts schedule per CBA requirements
  • Reviews individual timeclock use to ensure accuracy of records for payroll and event billing.  Confirms accuracy of labor sheets and closes out work orders in Ungerboeck.
  • Provides supervision and guidance of security staff to ensure the highest possible level of security, safety and comfort to all patrons and employees.
  • Adopts a customer service philosophy and public relations approach to the performance of all duties. Establishes and promotes this philosophy with department staff.
  • Secondary liaison with Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement agencies in the development of any investigations, asset protection programs or other. Works in coordination with all appropriate law enforcement organizations and security associations to insure efficient operations and event requirements such as dignitary visits.
  • Participates in investigations related to security incidents, loss prevention issues, or other facility/company issues. Coordinates with senior leadership in all incidents of an emergency, high priority, or sensitive nature.  Maintains timely and accurate records of all incident and accident reports.
  • Works in coordination with Director of Security and the Assistant General Manager to identify, control, and rectify all safety and liability exposures. Recommends and implements changes or improvements as needed.
  • Expedites any matters involving show security/traffic and safety. Works with event organizers, show managers and show contractors, and staff to achieve event success.
  • Assists with hiring all security, safety, and traffic personnel. Maintains and facilitates effective communications within the Security Department. Keeps subordinate personnel adequately informed of performance expectations and handles employee concerns or union grievances in a timely and impartial manner.
  • Remains active and informed of all programs and procedures related to fire prevention, emergency response, and emergency medical care. Assures that all show managers, show contractors and exhibitors are in compliance with city fire codes.
  • Responsible for all security systems, key control issues and photo ID badge/access control program.
  • Provides professional coaching as needed to ensure proper training and development programs for security staff to promote ongoing improvement and professional growth.
  • Directs activities that effectively control accident and health exposures within the DLCC and assists in assuring compliance with OSHA regulations. Works with all departments to ensure compliance.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned to support company and/or facility goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises Security Guards in the Security Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM Global policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications 
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) in Criminal Justice, Business or related field.
  • 5+ years of security or law enforcement experience, with 2+ years in a supervisory role
  • Superior customer service and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of security technologies and systems (CCTV, access control)'

Skills and Abilities
  • Solid knowledge of the problems, issues, philosophies, principles, tactics, and procedures related to the management of security and safety services
  • Knowledge of relevant local, state and federal laws and regulations, court decisions and ordinances that affect security operations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as skills in labor and interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and emergencies effectively.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

Computer Skills
Proficient use in various computer software programs including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
