JOB SUMMARY:

THIS POSITION WILL NOT START UNTIL SEPTEMBER 1, 2024.

The Building Security Officer is responsible for the security of the Smith Entertainment Group properties in Salt Lake, Sandy, and Kearns (e.g. Utah NHL Team Practice Facility, and events etc.). The Security Officer will master all security systems in the building and apply this knowledge with security protocols to ensure the safe day-to-day operations of the facility. Shift Hours are 8am-4pm. Hours may vary depending on security needs.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Patrol areas at regular intervals to ensure that the properties are secure and safe.
  • Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property  damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences. 
  • Answer alarms and investigate disturbances. 
  • Interact with guests in the screening security locations, access control, crowd control, risk management, alcohol enforcement, and event staff.
  • Must be comfortable searching bags and a person's body respectfully and efficiently.
  • Monitor and adjust controls that regulate building systems, such as air conditioning, furnace, or boiler. 
  • Answer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours. 
  • Assist with Players/VIP/Employee and guest parking. 
  • Assist guests/employees in emergency situations, which could include medical or evacuations. 
  • Assist guests with special needs. 
  • Monitor safety and security conditions in the facility. 
  • Enforce building safety and security rules and policies.
  • Complete required training successfully. 
  • Be proactive and friendly in connecting with guests and employees
  • Be responsible for ensuring all guests and employees are aware of the Utah Hockey Practice facility policies, as they pertain to safety.
  • May have to drive a company vehicle for exterior patrols and/or other duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Must be able to take objections and respond with a guest service approach first.
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written direction. 
  • Valid Driver's License Preferred.
  • Able to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends and holidays).
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other employees
  • Maintain a professional appearance as set by Smith Entertainment Group  Management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Frequent climbing of stairs, moving of barriers and boxes of handout materials up to 25 pounds. 
  • Must stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, twist, handle, grasp, and reach.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus with or without reasonable accommodation. 
  • Majority of duties are performed in-house under controlled temperatures; some positions are in inclement areas or outside on SEG properties.
  • This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally. 
  • This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess.
