Overview

Provide set up and game management functions for Athletic and other events.  This includes setting tables and chairs, barricades, building stages, picking up and laying down the Basketball floor, moving soccer goals, amd assisting in the set up of food service operations at various venues.  Event oversight includes setting tents, signs, tables and chairs for events, moving sports equipment when needed and breaking down everything after the event.  Using hand tools and some powered equipment can happen on occasion.  

 

This role will pay an hourly wage of $11 to $12.50.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to service calls and helps Conversion Supervisors set up or ear down equipment before, during and after events.  
  • Set up tables and chairs as directed by supervisors or on event data sheets, and assists other departments as necessary.  
  • May respond to trouble and emergency situations and take necessary precautions for the well-being and protection of property and occupants.
  • Assist with maintenance of basketball floors and baskets to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Assist with general work involving setting chairs, building stages, installing and removal of Basketball court, Teraflex matting for Volleyball, moving and adjusting barricades, and any other event needs as may come up.  
  • May operate or work from equipment including but not limited to scissor lift (if licensed), fork lift (if licensed), ladders, power tools, and general hand tools.
  • Work with Conversion Supervisors to take care of needs during any event or competition,  
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or related trade school training; valid driver’s license; and interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with guests, vendors, staff, and other facility users.
  • Previous experience in electrical field strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity of OSHA requirements.
  • Be reliable, honest, dependable, and punctual and have strong customer service.
  • Be a self-starter; have ability to take directions; and be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Willing to work in varying weather conditions.

 

Physical Demands:

 

  • Requires frequent walking/standing (possibly uneven surfaces), climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, working in cramped positions reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs. on an occasional basis and up to 30 lbs. regularly.
  • Ability to frequently and safely climb and navigate stairs, ladders, work in areas over 50ft high.
  • Good eye and hand coordination and reflexes for the safe operation of equipment.
  • Good visual acuity with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and mouse on a computer.

 

Work Environment:

 

  • This position requires work inside and/or outside of the building, as needed by events and is subjected to changing climate and adverse weather conditions.
  • The worker is subjected to noise. Noise levels will vary depending on job task and events in the building.
  • Knowledge of safe operation of tools, drills, impact guns, and equipment such as service carts, scissor lifts, etc.
