Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and ethical Payroll Tax Manager to join our team. This role collaborates with internal teams to implement payroll systems and processes, resolves payroll tax related issues, and provides exceptional service to our internal team members. Additionally, this role may be involved in payroll strategy development and process improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll tax compliance, including cleanup, amendments, opening new tax accounts, and maintaining accurate records. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, dependable, and committed to ensuring accuracy and integrity in all payroll tax processes. This role will pay a salary of $85,000 to $102,000.

●        Payroll Tax Compliance & Management:

○        Oversee all payroll tax activities, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.

○        Manage the process of cleaning up existing payroll tax issues, including filing amendments and resolving discrepancies.

○        Open and manage new tax accounts as needed, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and submitted on time.

○        Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring the company remains compliant with all payroll tax obligations.

●        Account Maintenance & Record Keeping:

○        Maintain an organized and up-to-date spreadsheet with all payroll tax account information, including login credentials, filing deadlines, and relevant data.

○        Ensure that all payroll tax records are accurate, complete, and securely stored in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

○        Regularly audit payroll tax accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve any issues promptly.

●        Process Improvement & Problem Solving:

○        Identify areas for improvement in payroll tax processes and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

○        Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to payroll tax functions, ensuring clarity and consistency across the team.

○        Collaborate with other team members in the department to ensure seamless integration of payroll tax processes with overall payroll operations.

●        Leadership & Team Collaboration:

○        Provide guidance and support to payroll and finance teams on payroll tax-related matters, ensuring they have the resources and knowledge needed to comply with tax requirements.

○        Assist in training team members on payroll tax processes, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

○        Serve as a point of contact for external auditors and tax authorities, managing communications and ensuring timely responses to inquiries.

●        Accuracy & Attention to Detail:

○        Demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all payroll tax-related activities, ensuring that all filings are correct and submitted on time.

○        Perform regular reviews and reconciliations of payroll tax liabilities, ensuring that all payments are made accurately and on time.

●        Customer Service & Ethical Standards:

○        Uphold a culture of kindness and respect in all interactions with employees, colleagues, and external stakeholders.

○        Provide exceptional customer service by addressing payroll tax-related inquiries promptly and professionally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, human resources, or a related field, preferred.
  • 3-5 years of payroll management, including experience with multi state payroll tax filings
  • Payroll administration experience required.
  • Prior experience in a managerial or supervisory role preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of payroll processes, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, as well as wage and hour regulations.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), strongly preferred.
