Overview

This position is committed to providing World Class Service for the Palm Beach County Convention Center.  The Public Safety Officer position is responsible for ensuring the safety and security for the venue & all events.  Special security assignments may be available during non-event days/nights.  The security team is a provider of direct service to our guests and must always exhibit a professional and courteous demeanor.

 

This role pays an hourly wage of $16.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance for all services and activities involved in facility and event security.
  • Coordinate function of event security in conjunction with client’s security personnel.
  • Monitor fire safety equipment; surveillance equipment; card access equipment.
  • Ability to work security check points/posts.
  • Assist supervisor in general duties of Public Safety, theft deterrence and loss prevention.
  • Complete building, parking lot, and safety inspections as part of your daily duties
  • Assist supervisor in interaction with law enforcement and fire rescue.
  • Assist supervisor as shift contact for workplace injury and Worker’s Comp reporting
  • Assist supervisor in issuing keys to employees and clients.
  • Recommend modifications to safety programs, policies, and procedures as appropriate.
  • Assist with daily parking operations when needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Possess demonstrable experience in the performance of public facility security duties.
  • Verifiable experience of similar operations in a large, service oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with or certification in Crowd Management and control techniques.
  • Conversant in principles of training and performance evaluation.
  • Able to lift 30 pounds; bend, stoop, reach, walk and stand outdoors for long periods, unaided.
  • Working knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations.
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office and internet use.
