The City of Peoria Parks and Recreation Department is seeking an Irrigation Technician for the Sports Complex, Neighborhood Parks and Community Parks. This is a full time, benefitted position that will provide irrigation repair, maintenance, and programming to parks across our city.  The ideal candidate for this position will have experience:
  • Programming and operating computerized central control systems (experience with CalSense is preferred)
  • Understanding and adhering to objectives and goals to meet water budgets and restrictions
  • Maintaining irrigation supplies and equipment
  • Operating and maintaining irrigation motors and pumps
  • Performing regular and preventative maintenance on complex irrigation systems
  • Maintaining parks and open space, irrigation systems, turf, trees, and plants

Minimum requirements:
  • Education:  High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Experience:  2-4 years of experience required in the same or similar previous positions (park or sports field experience is preferred but not required).
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • A valid Arizona Driver's License upon hire.
    • The ability to obtain a backflow assembly certification within 6 months of hire.
    • The ability to obtain a Water Audit Certification within 12 months of hire.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Licenses/Certifications:  Certified Irrigation Technician.
  • Municipal irrigation or landscape maintenance experience. 
  • Possess considerable independent and professional judgement.
  • Be willing to work flexible schedules to meet the demands of the position.

Salary Range:  $20.80 - $30.07 per hour DOE
