Job Summary:

The Columbia Fireflies are a part of Hardball Capital which also owns the Chattanooga Lookouts and the Fort Wayne TinCaps. The Fireflies began play in the spring of 2016 at Segra Park, in Columbia, South Carolina. The Fireflies are the Class-A, Kansas City Royals affiliate. Columbia Fireflies play 66 home games April- September. Segra Park also hosts Holiday Lights each holiday season. 

Position Summary:

The VP of Marketing will oversee and grow in the development of marketing strategies and products for the organization.  The employee will also seek to uphold the brand of the Columbia Fireflies, its brand promises, core values, and service standards in collaboration with the Columbia Fireflies team both internally and externally. The VP of Marketing must seek to make Columbia Fireflies Fun for All and seek to serve and appreciate the midlands community and our team, and all shareholders. Columbia Fireflies expects that the VP of Marketing lead by example for their team and all of Columbia Fireflies staff. Most importantly, the VP of Marketing will strive to make every interaction memorable for all or our fans, shareholders, and constituents. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains supervisory and management staff in the department. 
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely feedback and guidance for the team.   
  • Oversees community engagement, media relations, digital media and content, game presentation, merchandise and brand design
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees and in accordance with company policy in conjunction with HR. 

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Directs and implements the organization’s advertising and promotional activities including, but not limited to baseball games, special events and holiday lights. 
  • Analyzes target market information to identify and recommend effective marketing approaches.
  • Identifies new market segments that would seek to participate in activities, venue space, or any other product offered by Columbia Fireflies. 
  • Prepares effective advertising campaigns based on market research.
  • Maintains knowledge on Ticket Sales, Groups Sales, Partnership, Merchandise, Food and Beverage initiatives and helps all teams implement initiatives with detailed collaborative efforts.  Creating Marketing campaigns where needed. 
  • Collaborates with and oversees all product creation for brand continuity across departments (Food and Beverage, Merchandise, Baseball etc.) 
  • Collaborates with senior executives to develop growth plans for the organization.
  • Forecasts, drafts, implements, and oversees the department’s operating budget.
  • Oversee all aspects of the fan experience and ballpark presentation. 
  • Develop marketing plans on shared organizational goals to accomplish organizational business objectives and goals.
  • Oversee development of the annual marketing and promotional calendars
  • Proven leader with a demonstrated track record of achieving and exceeding business objectives.
  • Strategic planner with the ability to develop, delegate, and execute plans, as well as assessing the long-term implications of decision making
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe platforms (including but not limited to Photoshop)
  • Proficient in website management 

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in marketing and long-range planning required.  
 
Physical Requirements: 
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking on game-days 
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.  
  • Employee will assist in Tarp Pulls
