Little League® Softball: Level the Playing Field Program 
June 2 through August 12, 2025 - Exclusive to current female student-athletes | Remote work eligible
 
Little League® International of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, is seeking two female student-athletes or female student sports fans who are interested in a career in sports to join Little League’s softball efforts for the spring and summer of 2025, reporting to the Director of Softball Development. This program is designed for either female student-athletes who are interested in breaking into the sports industry, or female students who possess a strong interest in a career in the sports industry. This position is remote work eligible, with the exception you must be able to attend the Little League Softball World Series in Greenville, North Carolina from July 27 – August 12, 2025. This program will run from approximately June to August and will typically follow normal business hours, Monday – Friday. This is a paid position, and once transitioned to on-site/in-person work, housing and some meals will be provided.

Acceptance into the program is contingent on all applicable background checks. Remote applicants must provide their own laptop with appropriate software (MS Office, etc.), phone, and have reliable internet at their own expense. 

ABOUT LITTLE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL

Located in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, we are the administrative and operational headquarters for Little League Baseball and Softball, the leading nonprofit youth sports organization with 80+ years of history supporting youth baseball and softball. Little League is played in approximately 6,500 communities across more than 80 countries around the world. Job Breakdown and Responsibilities: 

  • June | Pre-event Curriculum | Learn about Little League, LLSWS, Women in Sport, etc.:
·        Career pathways – review with each department 
·        Little League Softball community outreach 
·        Little League Softball programming efforts
·        Little League Softball website and promotional materials overview 
·        Current youth softball research 
·        Overview of LLSWS and other world series events 

·        July through August | Little League Softball World Series Preparation & Other Softball related Events: 
·        Learn about all event operations: hospitality, game ops, concessions, souvenirs, customer service, marketing, broadcasting/communication, etc. (WS & Region)
·        Attend (virtually) all LLSWS Committee meetings 
·        Overview of all volunteer areas throughout series
·        Attend LLSWS and gain hands on event experience 
·        Network with LLSWS Committee members and other key volunteers 
·        All participants would participate in a facility tour prior to event start and get an overview of various areas of game day management at the LLSWS (ex. Press Box operations, ESPN Broadcast, social media and marketing, grounds crew, volunteer management, player housing and transport, sponsorship activation, etc.)
·        If located near a regional facility, there is more opportunity to gain hands on event experience. 
 
Potential Duties for on-site positions include, but are not limited to: 
 
·        Assisting with special events: such as the Girls with Game Celebration, team arrival, opening ceremonies, Pro Games, uniform and equipment distribution, sponsorship zone, etc.
·        Assisting with on field ceremonies 
·        Media Relations: (assisting with post-game interviews, social media coverage, press relations, etc.) 
·        Game day operations: Press box operations & facility and field operations
·        Hospitality/Player experience: (Team hosts/player experience, decorating player housing, coordinating first pitch/pre-game ceremonies, welcoming Athletes Unlimited athletes to Greenville, etc.)
·        Other softball/event related duties added as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Must be an active undergraduate or graduate female student-athlete including an athlete with disability (AWD) OR active undergraduate or graduate female student with a strong desire to work in the sports industry. 
·        Must be an aspiring woman sports professional-either on the field or in the industry

·        Strong knowledge and understanding of softball (basic rules/gameplay, game situations, noteworthy happenings, etc.)
·        Must be able to attend in person in Greenville July 27 – August 12. Candidates must be available for the entirety of this timeframe.
·        Ability to lead projects and work independently, while also possessing excellent teamwork skills 
·        Prior event management experience
·        Experience working with and motivating volunteers
·        Customer service skills – complete all tasks effectively while engaging with other staff, fans, and clients in a respectful manner.   
·        Excellent organizational skills to meet deadlines and reach department objectives. 
·        A positive attitude 
·        Proficient computer skills, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, etc.). Knowledge of Adobe Suite is a plus. 

Program Benefits: This experience provides the students with a hands-on, real-world opportunity to get practical experience in the sports industry, specifically in the youth softball space. This program is designed for the student to get an opportunity to experience each department Little League has to offer with the opportunity to dive deeper into projects that meet the desired need of each student. During the on-site portion of the program, students will be provided with housing near the event location as well as meals while working the events. Students will be reimbursed for travel to and from the event location.

Working Environment and Physical Requirements: Throughout the entirety of the program, students will work in a hybrid of individual and team-based work, completing tasks on their own while simultaneously working with the other students to complete organizational goals. During the remote portion of the program, students may be asked to sit for long periods of time, communicate virtually through digital platforms (i.e., Microsoft Teams, Zoom), and participate in live video conversations while performing their duties. Once on-site, students may be required to handle physical duties with or without accommodation including, but not limited to, occasionally carrying/operating equipment (up to 50 lbs.), handling in-stadium event efforts during summer temperatures, and more. Accommodations may be made for each student and positions will be assigned based on previous experience and skillsets.
