Player Development Strength & Conditioning Coach

 

Department: Player Development 

Reports To: Strength & Conditioning Coordinator

The Player Development Strength & Conditioning Coach will serve as a member of a comprehensive player development team in a high performance baseball setting. This position will likely be based in Tampa, although there is a possibility of the candidate being assigned to one of the Yankees minor league affiliates during the season.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with all player performance departments to build programs and coach athletes to optimize performance while reducing the risk of injuries.
  • Work alongside rehabilitation specialists in caring for injured athletes and facilitate their return to play.
  • Assist in data collection and documentation.
  • Collaborate on a variety of player performance projects and utilize different technologies.

 

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Bilingual (heavily preferred, but not required)
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association
  • Familiarity with coaching in a group setting
  • Experience collaborating with rehabilitation specialists.
  • Previous experience in baseball settings (preferred), particularly with respect to coaching sprint, agility, and baserunning skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to create engaging relationships with coaches, medical staff, performance science staff and players to effectively communicate information. 
  • Attention to detail in planning, organization and execution of tasks.
  • Demonstration of creativity and initiative – always looking to improve performance and processes while also displaying a willingness to be detail oriented.
