Thank you for your interest in an internship with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. It is our goal to provide you with hands-on experience and knowledge useful in competing for jobs in the baseball industry, beginning with Summer Collegiate Baseball.  We will also work with you to fulfill requirements for college credit if necessary.  Our internships are a great learning opportunity where previous experience is not always necessary. The Rafters are a part of the Northwoods League, a summer collegiate league located in the midwest. Each summer the Rafters host 36 games at Historic Witter Field and bring in over 35,000 fans through the gates.
 
Position Overview:
Are you passionate about sports facility management and ensuring a top-notch experience for athletes and fans? Join our team as a Baseball Facilities Intern and play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the functionality and aesthetics of our baseball facilities. As an intern, you will work closely with our facilities team to ensure that our baseball fields, stadiums, and training areas are in optimal condition. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sports facility operations and event management. This is no lazy summer internship! Key Responsibilities:
  1. Field Preparation: Assist in preparing the baseball field before practices, games, and events, including setting up bases, pitching mounds, and other equipment.
  2. Facility Maintenance: Assist in daily facility maintenance tasks, including cleaning, sweeping, and trash removal to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  3. Groundskeeping: Work with the groundskeeping team to mow, water, and groom the baseball fields, ensuring they are in top playing condition.
  4. Facility Repairs: Help with minor facility repairs, such as fixing equipment, fences, and seating, to ensure everything is in working order.
  5. Event Support: Provide support during baseball games and events, assisting with setup, crowd control, and post-event cleanup.
  6. Equipment Inventory: Assist in maintaining and organizing the inventory of sports equipment and supplies.
  7. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and protocols to ensure a secure environment for athletes, staff, and visitors.
  8. Facility Improvement Projects: Collaborate on special projects aimed at enhancing the facility's functionality and aesthetics.
  9. Communication: Maintain effective communication with the facilities team and other staff members to ensure efficient coordination.
  10. Fan Experience: Contribute to providing an exceptional fan experience by ensuring clean and well-maintained facilities.
  11. This is not an all-inclusive list and you will be assigned additional team duties to ensure a positive fan experience, facilities cleanliness, and everyone’s safety.

Requirements:
  • Facilities Management Interest: A genuine interest in sports facility management, event operations, or related areas.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting (up to 50lbs), bending, and operating equipment.
  • Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with the facilities team and support other stadium operations.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to maintain the facility's cleanliness and functionality.
  • Availability: Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate baseball games and events schedules.

Educational Background: 
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Sports Management, Facility Management, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Duration & Compensation:
This is a 3 month (Mid-May through Mid-August) summer internship position. Compensation and academic credit options can be discussed during the interview process.
