Job Summary
At the direction of the Manager of Grounds for Florida Operations, the Supervisor of Grounds for Florida Operations is responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of the fields at Pirate City and the day-to-day management of a subset of the Grounds Crew employees. The incumbent must be well versed in turf science and groundskeeping best practices.

Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the full-time and seasonal Grounds Crew Employees as assigned by the Manager of Grounds, including but not limited to responsibility for, recruiting, hiring, training, day-to-day schedule and management, time review, assisting in disciplinary processes, and regularly directing employee’s work.
  2. Inspect machinery before and after use and maintain in workable condition. Repair and report broken items to the Manager of Grounds.
  3. Report to the Assistant Manager of Grounds in the absence of the Manager of Grounds.
  4. Maintain all field areas, batting cages and grounds crew shop buildings consistent with the directions of the Manager of Grounds.
  5. Ensure safety at Pirate City and LECOM Park for all employees and visitors.
  6. Develop and implement policies to ensure all equipment used at Pirate City and LECOM Park is efficiently and effectively maintained.
  7. Maintain the baseball field at LECOM Park and all baseball fields at Pirate City consistent with Major League expectations and requirements.
  8. Assist with chemical treatment to all fields.
  9. Keep all common areas and landscaped areas in top condition.
  10. Oversee the operations consistent with OSHA and other safety requirements and maintain the list of all caustic materials per OSHA requirements.
  11. All other duties as assigned by Manager of Grounds for Florida Operations.
  12. Assist with events at PNC Park as assigned.
  13. When assigned, responsible for acting as Manager on Duty when field(s) are used for supplemental events at LECOM Park or Pirate City.

Required:
  • Four-year Bachelor’s Degree or Two-year Associates Degree in Horticulture, Turfgrass Science, or equivalent experience and knowledge of environmental turfgrass management practices including pest, disease and weed management.
  • Prior professional baseball field management experience.
  • Prior experience in field management for non-baseball events.
  • Supervisory experience, at least two years preferred.
  • Must obtain a FL Commercial Pesticide and Fertilizer Applications License within six months of hire.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
Desired:
  • Bilingual and conversant in both Spanish and English.
  • Experience with equipment maintenance.
  • Experience with managing inventory.
  • Experience with time management and scheduling systems.
  • Regular participation in continuing education, including but not limited to, field days, workshops, and seminars.
  • Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Outlook, Excel).
