Sutter Health Park is looking for a reliable, dedicated, and detail-oriented Assistant Manager of Merchandise. This role will be responsible for the operations of our On Deck Shop and retail sales throughout games and events, inclusive of Sacramento River Cats games, A’s games, and non-baseball events at Sutter Health Park. The Assistant Manager will help to guide the event staff leads and team members in operating the store, packaging and sending online orders, and providing world class service to our guests. As the team leader, the Assistant Manager will be responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and scheduling of the event staff. The following description is not all inclusive and other responsibilities may be added or realigned as business needs shift.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Schedule staff within the cadence set by the department Director and Human Resources.
  • Review and complete corrections to event staff time records within the guidelines set by Payroll.
  • Hire, train, coach, and provide guidance to event staff leads and team members.
  • Ensure the team is abiding by company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the team is working safely at all times.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources and Director of Merchandise on employee relation issues.

On Deck Shop:

  • Ensure mail is being received and distributed appropriately and assist with taking mail to the post office on a regular basis.
  • Ensure the store and kiosks are always stocked appropriately and communicate proactively with the Director should an item become low and require a reorder.
  • Work with the Director to merchandise the store and kiosks appropriately according to the event, expected attendance, and any special groups which we may cater to (i.e.: Mother’s Day, PRIDE, school days, etc.).
  • Assist the Director with online order fulfillment and ensure the team is completing these with accuracy and in an appropriate window after an order is received.
  • Provide leadership to the team onsite during games and special events.

Required Skills/Abilities:   

  • Must have a valid driver license and proof of insurance.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong work ethic, results oriented, and ability to go above and beyond what is necessary to achieve success.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and with tight deadlines.
  • Strong team player, self-starter and self-motivator.
  • Willingness to work long, irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Preferred experience with ABI or other scheduling software, Yellow Dog Software, Shopify, and point of sale systems.
  • Ability to quickly learn new computer programs.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Industry experience strongly preferred especially retail, customer service, tourism and hospitality, or team stores and/or sports venues.
  • Previous scheduling, payroll review, and leadership experience strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and sitting.
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb an 8-foot ladder and move boxes up and down ladders.
  • Must be able to travel locally to and from the post office or other satellite locations.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions as needed.

Compensation:

This position is a full-time, non-exempt role with an expected annual salary of $45,760-$49,920 in addition to any overtime work. Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors are considered when determining the salary offered.
