The Security Manager is responsible for leading the Security team to provide a Clean, Safe, Fun, and Family Friendly experience at Sutter Health Park. This individual will collaborate with the Director of Security & Fan Experience to develop a security department plan that includes compliance, goal & objective obtainment, and development of a fan experience culture. Along with Game/Event Day responsibilities, the Security Manager will assist in overseeing venue security and safety protocols/procedures, keeping Sutter Health Park staff and assets safe during non-game or event days.

Management Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee 90+ Security Guards, including recruiting, hiring, scheduling, and training to maintain best in class security staff.
  • Ensure River Cats Games, Athletics Games, and Sutter Heath Park special events are staffed at an appropriate level with adequate coverage/replacements.
  • Assist managing timekeeping and payroll.
  • Create/schedule and facilitate comprehensive annual and continuing security awareness training in compliance with Major League Baseball and the Bureau of Security & Investigative Services (BSIS). Including, but not limited to, threat response protocol, resolutions training, de-escalation, and conflict management.
  • Reward and/or discipline employees by initiating positive feedback or taking corrective actions if necessary and collaborate with the Director and/or HR as needed.
  • Work with Fan Experience Management to ensure coordinated teamwork between Security and Guest Services departments.
  • Assist in administrative documentation including credential compliance, disciplinary notes, trainings, reporting, logging entries, and after-action reports.
  • Conduct pre-event briefing sessions ensuring Security Guards are equipped with all necessary information and tools to execute a successful event.

Security/Responsibilities:

  • Knowledgeable of Sutter Health Park’s Emergency Response Plan and acts as designee when necessary.
  • Comprehend the intricacies of crowd dynamics, individual behavior, and safety assurance in large gatherings, while skillfully guiding appropriate and measured responses to various situations.
  • Observe departing stadium personnel to guard against theft of property and ensure their safety when exiting at late hours.
  • Escort any unwelcome persons from the property without interrupting the orderly flow of operation.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service and communicative skills to manage guest incidents.
  • Ability to proactively manage emergency & high stress situation in a calm manner.
  • Ability to portray patience and can communicate with discretion, diplomacy, and tact when handling sensitive situations.
  • Ability to put the fan first and foster a fun environment to create treasured memories.
  • Ability to maintain organized electronic records of various compliance documents.
  • Ability to support Sutter Health Park policies and procedures, being an advocate for the organization.
  • Availability to work most River Cats and A’s home games plus special events throughout the season (nights/weekends/holidays). Must be available to work a flexible schedule including long workdays, early mornings, or late nights.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in security supervisory role within a convention center, theme park, hotel, sports venue, or other public assembly facility.
  • Experience managing and scheduling large teams.
  • Experience de-escalating urgent matters.
  • Previous customer service, leadership, and supervisory experience.
  • Guard Card required.
  • Familiar with Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) licensing for Guards, keeps accurate records for certifications for self and staff.
  • Experience in Microsoft 365.
  • Experience or ability to learn scheduling programs (ABI).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to patrol the property and access areas quickly.
  • Physically able to secure and detain individuals if necessary.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking in a game/event setting.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and monitoring surveillance equipment.
  • Must be able to lift one hundred pounds at a time.

Compensation:

This position is a full-time, exempt role with an expected annual salary of $67,000-$70,000. Final offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors are considered when determining the salary offered. Total compensation & offer package will include the following:
