The Drive play at Fluor Field in Downtown Greenville - a mini replica of iconic Fenway Park - complete with its own "Green Monster" and manual scoreboard in left field.

In its inaugural season in 2006, the Drive received Ballpark of the Year recognition, beating out all other newly constructed stadiums across minor league and professional sports. In 2008, the Drive's stadium was officially renamed "Fluor Field" after the Drive announced a naming rights agreement with Fluor Corporation - a global leader in engineering & construction. Each year Fluor Field hosts 66 Greenville Drive baseball games and 30-35 amateur baseball games. In addition to and of equal importance, under the year-round West End Events brand, Fluor Field hosts the community's highest profile events including Artisphere, Euphoria, Upstate Veterans' Salute Concert, TD Synnex Share the Magic Gala, and many others. The Drive's contributions to Minor League Baseball and, more specifically, the Greenville community, were recognized by being awarded the John H. Johnson Award in November 2017. This award, given to only one Minor League Baseball team each year, is considered the highest organizational achievement in Minor League Baseball, and is based on community commitment, operational excellence, and overall franchise stability.

For over 19 years, Greenville Drive has created a highly visible and widely embraced community engagement platform at Fluor Field, reaching over 1 million ballpark guests and digital followers across the Upstate of South Carolina each year. Collaborating closely with the leading corporations, associations, and community-based organizations that shape the quality of life in the Upstate, the Drive have formed strategic partnerships that positively impact a variety of critical initiatives. The Drive have creatively and continuously leveraged its community engagement platform that is Fluor Field to positively impact key quality of life community drivers.

Position Summary & Overview: Director of Facility Operations

The Greenville Drive stadium operations function is one of the most critical aspects of the Drive's business, growing in importance each year. Greenville Drive is positioned for success with a strong history of brand success and a willingness to invest in people, technology, and infrastructure. As the Director of Facility Operations, this individual will be responsible for ensuring Fluor Field remains one of the premium ballparks in Minor League Baseball. This individual will report directly to the General Manager and the Vice President of Field and Stadium Operations and will have two Facility Operations Assistants to support both the baseball and non-baseball special event lines of business. The following categories & descriptions outline the general responsibilities & expectations of the Drive's Director of Facility Operations:

  1. Gameday Operations & Preparedness
    1. Perform routine walk-throughs in accordance with game day and event day checklists to ensure the highest upkeep and efficiency of Fluor Field. Coordinate with vendors leading up to and during the game to ensure they have the information needed to appropriately staff the event (e.g., external cleaning crew, EMS and police personnel, etc.).
    2. Ensure all programs and procedures are in place to maintain ballpark security, safety, and enjoyment of fans, guests and employees on a daily and event basis. This process includes our video surveillance system, security check procedures at gates for baseball games and public events, developing a working relationship with City of Greenville police, etc.
    3. Develop, direct, and implement programs for accommodation of disabled guests according to ADA standards.
    4. Lead all aspects of facility maintenance (whether done internally or by hired vendors) to ensure Fluor Field remains a clean and operational facility on a year-round basis. Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules to proactively address issues before they become major concerns.
  2. Staff Leadership & Talent Management
    1. The Director of Facility Operations will be responsible for hiring, training, and developing our operations staff on gamedays and event days. As we strive to provide a high-quality and family-friendly entertainment option at Fluor Field, this individual will be responsible for recruiting individuals to work as ushers, bag checkers, security checkers, info center personnel, ID checkers, etc. For baseball games and major events held at Fluor Field, approximately 35-40 employees will report to this position in an hourly game day/event day capacity.
    2. The Director of Facility Operations will be tasked with leading game day meetings with their staff to review all pertinent details of the upcoming game or event. The goal of these meetings is to ensure that all scheduled staff are engaged and aware of the major details surrounding events held at Fluor Field so that they can answer questions as patrons enter the ballpark. These individuals are on the front-line and have direct interaction with our fans, so ensuring they are knowledgeable and informed goes a long way to shaping the experience our guests have.
    3. Lead and manage two full-time staff facility operations assistants. The goal is to develop and grow these individuals to understand and be able to execute the full operation. Leading by example and implementing best practices within the operations department will be key to success in this position.

    1. Work alongside the Director of West End Events to provide planning and execution assistance for large-scale community-based events hosted at Fluor Field. Ensure the special events department has the resources they need from an operational perspective to execute successful non-baseball events.
    2. Assist with staffing needs for West End Events in coordination with the Director of West End Events. As it relates to our hourly staff members, we want them to feel as if they are working at and for Fluor Field as opposed to for a baseball team vs. events company. Our goal is to have a fully integrated organization across our baseball and special events lines of business.
    3. Provide support for facility matters as it relates to West End Events. Examples of this include, but are not limited to, the following: setting event rooms and recovering rooms post event, scheduling hourly staff, scheduling external cleaning crew and EMS/police as needed for public events, act as a liaison between our events team and external vendors, etc.

    2. Work with the VP of Field and Stadium Operations and the VP of Finance and Administration to track actual expenses against established budgets on a monthly basis. Our goal is to set realistic budgets each year and then be held accountable to those budgets to ensure organizational success.
    3. Interview and select vendors for all stadium operations needs and hold them accountable to established pricing and policies. Review and approve all vendor invoices for the general ledger accounts assigned to the operations department.
    4. Order and maintain accurate inventory levels for small tools, cleaning supplies, paper product supplies, and other miscellaneous equipment around the ballpark.
