Summary

Brooklyn Magazine is seeking a Social Strategist to own and supervise Brooklyn Magazine’s social presence. As a core member of the team, this role is tuned-in to what works and what doesn’t on social, is on the pulse of what’s happening in Brooklyn, and loves crafting content that engages, entertains, and encourages. The ideal candidate is highly creative and self-motivated, has excellent copywriting and communication skills, and collaborates with others.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the Brooklyn Magazine social calendar, planning consistent, platform-optimized programming across all channels and platforms, capitalizing on Brooklyn achievements, events, and news to drive audience growth and engagement
  • Own the content development process for Brooklyn Magazine social channels, working closely with the Editor-in-Chief, internal designers and producers to build social-first static, photo, and short-form video content
  • Complete daily publishing and scheduling of all social media content
  • Be responsible for and lead community management and moderation as well as proactive engagement with relevant brands, partners, and communities in and around Brooklyn
  • Surface and pitch news, stories, ideas, and social-friendly content to the Editor-in-Chief
  • Build simple graphic and platform-specific assets from existing design templates and work with design team for more comprehensive design and development needs
  • Monitor, source, and ideate against trends and bubbling conversations for BK Mag to align with, providing strategic recommendations on how to execute against them
  • Analyze social media metrics and insights to advise strategy refinement and optimize performance
  • Stay on top of industry trends and standard processes to continuously innovate and improve social media efforts
  • Cover tentpole and priority events in and around Brooklyn as needed

Who You Are

  • 2-3 years’ experience in social media and content publishing and development roles
  • Previous experience at a digital publisher is preferred
  • Proven record of audience growth and engagement on social
  • Strong understanding of the social media landscape inclusive of platform-specific strategies and processes
  • Passionate about content trends with knowledge of current and emerging social products, editorial formats, emerging creators, and platform features
  • Deep knowledge of Brooklyn and New York City culture is strongly preferred
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to produce short-form video content soup to nuts is a requirement, with willingness to be on-camera a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong attention to detail and project management capabilities
  • Ability to develop important, trust-based working relationships

Travel Requirements

May be required to travel on occasions; trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay for one or more nights.

Salary Range

$65,000 - $80,000

Work Environment

Works primarily in an office environment but upon request will be encouraged to attend events on evenings, weekends and holidays.
