The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is accepting applications for the position of Associate Director, Broadcast Production. This is a career, full-time position with a targeted salary of $76,200 per year with full health benefits and membership in the UC Retirement Plan. The Associate Director of Broadcast Engineering should be a self-starter who is organized and holds exceptional troubleshooting skills which will be required for innovative solutions to complex problems. This individual will collaborate with full, part-time, and student staff to oversee that all broadcast equipment is in good working order, is setup in proper manner, and is being operating appropriately. In addition, the position will be responsible for maintaining all broadcast infrastructure. A successful candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced, multi-purpose space within a large organization that supports an intercollegiate athletics program with 25 teams and 700 student-athletes.
The individual will be expected to develop a thorough understanding of the UCLA Department of Intercollegiate Athletics mission and goals and comply with all NCAA and BIG Ten expectations.
All applicants should demonstrate the following abilities and requirements: 3-5 years of experience in the video industry including experience in television broadcast, live streaming, and videoboard production. Bachelor's degree or 4 years relevant experience. Experience in a student run broadcast environment preferred. Experience with SMPTE, SDI, FIBER, XLR, Dante, and Network cables and paths for broadcast flow. Experience leading a group of students and freelance staff. Experience in supporting game presentation elements and fan experience staff. Expert understanding of broadcast control rooms engineering needs to execute a live event production as well as equipment maintenance. Familiarity with ROSS production equipment. Familiarity with Riedel Intercom. Familiarity with Digico and Yamaha mixing consoles. Familiarity with Sony, Fuji, and PTZ broadcast cameras and lenses. Familiarity with modern broadcast cabling infrastructure used in broadcast environments. Skill set to teach and work with students to achieve a product to the standards of UCLA and B1G+.Knowledge of videoboard production in a sports and entertainment facility. Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of stakeholders including external vendors in creating a live event production. Ability to forecast and work within budgets to achieve common goals. Personality that attracts others and encourages collaboration and innovation. Self-starter with the ability to work independently. Possess a strategic thinking mindset with the ability to adjust as needed, at times quickly and under time duress. Prior and specific knowledge of AV production systems, cameras, systems, non-linear editing, audio, video, and lighting control systems. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organization, and time management skills. In addition, comprehensive knowledge of video software recognized as industry standards. Excellent organizational skills to handle the volume and variety of projects for which they must be accomplished. Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and at times long work shifts Ability to meet deadlines, follow priorities and to schedule. work on several projects at once. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions. Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and handling objects with hands. Job occasionally requires standing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting to 25 pounds. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically. Knowledge in analog, digital video, fiber, and audio systems. Demonstrated ability to work on deadlines and manage several responsibilities simultaneously. Strong knowledge of current and emergent audio/video technologies and video production.
