Job Summary:

The Database Administrator position will be part of a dynamic and multifunctional Information Technology team that supports Arizona Cardinals staff at the Tempe facilities and support live events at State Farm Stadium. We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, passionate, and experienced database administrator with strong data management, development, migration, and integration experience.

This position is part of the technology department and will be based in Tempe and will support all equipment and employees working at the Tempe Office, Tempe Headquarters, State Farm Stadium, and other locations as required. The main responsibilities for this position include technical support and troubleshooting for staff and related computing technologies and systems.

Cybersecurity and network monitoring are high priorities of the Arizona Cardinals and the National Football League; thus, the network systems and related data and downstream applications must be safeguarded 24/7/365.  This position is also responsible for support and troubleshooting for the Cardinals, related businesses, and vendors/partners with technology related issues.

This position will support day to day IT enterprise systems in addition to live events (Cardinal’s football games, concerts, activities, and events) at all sites.  This role will be involved with many aspects of systems used by all staff and others if needed, potentially requiring 7 days a week and night schedules. Other responsibilities include event support, game day duties at games, training camp and extended trips.

 

Primary Job Duties:

The Database Administrator will have the daily responsibilities including, without limitation, to the following:

  • Build database, data warehouse, data lake related systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user's specialized role.
  • Design and implement database in accordance to end users' information needs and views.
  • Define users and enable data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner.
  • Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data.
  • Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses.
  • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users.
  • Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards.
  • Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity.
  • Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required.
  • Strong command of SQL and SQL server tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards.
  • Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling.
  • PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills.
  • Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS.
  • Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or relevant certification, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of experience in database administration, information technology, database architecture, or a related field.
  • MCSE/MCSA certifications preferred.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments.
  • Extensive experience with database technologies (MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure) a plus.
  • Proven working experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications.
  • Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL.
  • Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding.
  • Previous experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third-party tools.
  • Functional experience in database development, architecture, queries, tables, report development.
  • Experience in integrating CRM applications e.g. Salesforce, Snowflake, etc
  • Understanding of data fabric, data lakes, data warehouse from the development, management, and support spectrums.
  • Strong understanding of data analysis with varied data types and methods e.g. qualitative, quantitative, descriptive, etc.
  • Familiarity with programming languages API.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Frequent bending, lifting of 50 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairs.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently/collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic and an ability to communicate with all technical staff, as well as management and operational departments.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required.
  • Must complete all pre-employment forms and successfully pass a background check.
