The Irrigation Foreman's primary responsibility is to maintain the golf course irrigation system in proper working condition.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent education
  • Previous experience as an Irrigation Technician IV or at least four years similar experience in irrigation or plumbing
  • Advanced knowledge of irrigation systems function and repair including pipes, fittings, valves, mainline, controllers and computer programs as would normally be acquired through one to two years’ experience
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of golf course operations and practices necessary

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Perform all duties and/or tasks relative to the Irrigation Technician, I, II, III and IV positions
  • Maintain the mechanical and electrical components of the irrigation system and pump station
  • Attend manufacturer schools and seminars to keep current on recent technologies
  • Establish and perform preventative maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, and controllers
  • Repair and install all irrigation equipment
  • Train and supervise Irrigation Technicians, I, II, III and IV
  • Assist Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations in developing annual operating budget for irrigation maintenance
  • Perform all functions within the departmental operating budget
  • Establish and maintain appropriate inventory levels and records
  • Communicate on a regular basis via a two-way radio system
  • Ensures cleanliness of golf course equipment, maintenance facility and grounds
  • Required to wear personal protective clothing and/or use protective equipment to comply with established safety operating standards
  • Special projects or other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a variety of outdoor weather conditions. Position is very active and requires lifting, pulling or pushing up to or over 50 pounds, moving and/or lift items with awkward weights. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
