TPC Sawgrass a world-renowned golf club, home of the PGA TOUR and PLAYERS Championship, and premier event venue in the Ponte Vedra Beach/Jacksonville Florida area. We take extreme pride in the quality of our food and beverage department and offer our guests a multitude of room options for any party size as well as a sprawling event lawn with picturesque views of the property grounds.

Our banquet business is high-volume and complex with multiple events throughout most days of the year. We specialize in weddings, corporate meetings/dinners, and charity events, but have the space and ability to execute events across the entire spectrum.

This position reports to the Director of Group Sales and is a valuable team member in the overall success of the department. While this is a busy operation, we provide all the resources needed to achieve our goals while ensuring our managers have a healthy work/life balance.

The Sales and Catering Manager’s primary focus is finding new business, growing business from existing accounts, preparing banquet event orders with accurate event details and providing timely and clear communication to clients and internal staff.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent education, college degree preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of general hospitality business.
  • Must have a minimum of two years catering sales experience, luxury property experience preferred.

 Responsibilities/Duties

  • Prospect for new business and increase revenue from existing accounts
  • Respond to leads in a timely and professional manner
  • Conduct property site visits and entertain clients
  • Develop and execute the strategic business plan for catering sales. Utilize catering event software, TripleSeat, to track event revenue and manage sales process
  • Prepare sales contracts, banquet event orders and final billing
  • Ensure event pricing, room setup, menu details, dietary restrictions, audio visual needs, Internet needs, taxes and service charges are correct within the banquet event order
  • Ensure timeliness and collection of all contractual financial deposits and commitments
  • Contact client to obtain menu selections with an emphasis on upselling opportunities
  • Confirm final number of guests by deadline dates in accordance with TPC policies
  • Oversee event execution to ensure client’s needs are met
  • Network in the local community
  • Sell the club against the local competition. Conduct market surveys to ensure club’s position in the local market.
  • Clearly communicate club policies to clients
  • Orchestrate vendors' schedules and communicates delivery and set up times for decorating or theming the room with client and banquet team
  • Assume responsibility as the manager/supervisor on the floor (front-of-house) as needed for banquets, ensuring food and service standards are maintained 
  • Assume responsibility for and assist in the cleanliness and proper setup of banquet rooms
  • Manage and maintain relationships with special event vendors (florists, rental companies, entertainers etc.)
  • Resolve client event concerns
  • Operate within all guidelines, policies, standards and constraints as established by PGA TOUR Golf Course Properties INC and operates under all mandatory standards of operations as they relate to Food and Beverage operations
  • Special projects or other duties as assigned
