Assistant Racquets Professional

The Club at Carlton Woods, located in The Woodlands, Texas, is hiring for the position of Assistant Professional of Racquet Sports.  Qualifications: USPTA certified, 4.5+ playing level, one to two years of full-time teaching experience, able to work well with staff and members, self-motivated professional, experience with Ladies’ group drills, Pickleball experience a plus. The Assistant Professional will be responsible for conducting group and private lessons in tennis, assisting and directing the implementation of new programs and events for both tennis & pickleball, stringing and gripping racquets and orchestrating Junior Tennis Program classes. Must be available on Saturdays.  Strong social skills and organizational skills are a must.  The compensation package includes full-time status, hourly wage, lesson and stringing commission, medical/dental benefits, and 401k plan.

General Duties
  • Dress in proper tennis attire.
  • Assist in supervising all tennis activities.
  • Supervise proper charging of court fees and other privilege fees.
  • Assist in supervising the rental of club equipment and the maintenance thereof.
  • Provide competent tennis instruction for all groups and levels of players.
  • Enforce all the club’s rules and regulations governing the use of the club, its equipment and other property.
  • Maintain close relationships with the other club professionals and contractors.
  • Bring ideas and plans to staff meetings that will promote racquet sports and fellowship in the club.
  • Help in the preparation and presentation of all racquet sports socials, tournaments, leagues and events.
  • Enthusiastically promote Carlton Woods’ Racquet Sports.
  • Represent the club in professional tennis activities, including meetings or educational seminars of the national and/or local division of USPTA or USPTR and in tournaments such as Pro-Ams with members, as well as state or national tennis events as time will permit, but only with the approval of the Director of Tennis.
  • On the days that the courts are wet, but not raining, be available one to two hours early to help Rol-Dri the courts.
  • Make sure all on-court activities begin on time.
  • Be prepared for all activities and communicate pertinent information with the staff before the activity begins.
  • Keep the Fitness Host informed of the status of all lessons, clinics, and classes under your supervision during inclement weather.

Programs
  • Assist the Director in ensuring the tennis programs are servicing the entire Club’s membership (juniors, adults, seniors, etc.).
  • Assist the Director in organizing periodic events at the club in an effort to attract/hold members’ interests.
  • Be able to provide beginning through advanced instruction to enhance broad-based member participation.
  • Assist the Director in providing educational opportunities for the entire membership so that they can better understand the game of tennis.
  • Support the Racquet Sport staff and Carlton Woods’ Management at all times in dealing with members.
  • Assist the Head Professional in the preparation of an annual calendar of tennis activities for the club.
  • Provide continuous feedback on how to improve the program.

Maintenance
  • Co-inspect the courts/facilities on a daily basis prior to the start of play and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed.
  • Be certain that necessary personnel for the maintenance and upkeep of the club are aware of any maintenance issues that need attention.
  • Keep the Director of Tennis informed on the status of any non-functioning equipment for the purpose of budgeting, replacement, and/or repair.
  • Co-inspect that all areas of the tennis facility are neat and clean at all times and help in those duties if necessary.

Tennis Pro Shop Operations
  • Provide necessary coordination with the club accounting system to assure a smooth billing operation.
  • Assist customers with purchases when working in the Pro Shop.
  • Assist with counting Monthly Inventory.
