Public Address Announcer Position – Bloomington Bison
The Bloomington Bison are looking for a highly energetic and motivated public address announcer for our inaugural 2024-25 season. We are aiming to get candidates that have previous PA experience, have a strong and booming voice, and most importantly someone that is high energy and gets the crowd excited. It is also a plus to have a good amount of hockey knowledge or have previously done PA within a hockey environment. Requirements:
- 1-2 years of experience in professional speaking (public address announcing, radio broadcasting, voice-over talent, public speaking, theatre performer)
- Strong knowledge and understanding of hockey rules and game situations
- High energy and strong work ethic
- Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment and as part of a team
- High ethical standards and commitment to the organization’s core values
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Flexible schedule. Must be able to work home games, nights, weekends, and holidays as required
- Part-time role
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Announce all in-arena reads including player introductions, in-game updates and details, crowd engagement, and sponsor promotions, as needed.
- Bring a fun and exciting atmosphere through the microphone.
- Accurately pronounce all organization and competitor names
- Be present for all 36 home games that are primarily weekend nights with some weekday games.
- Abide by all ECHL Rules and Procedures while maintaining clear communication with game operations staff and production team, as well as off-ice official team.
- Demonstrate an ability and willingness to work flexible hours.
- Present yourself in a professional manner while in public, including all social media networks and platforms.
- Arrive prepared prior to the game to attend game operations and production meetings
- Follow instructions and cues of Director of Game Operations.
- Use a PA script to follow and adapt to any game changes.
