Public Address Announcer Position – Bloomington Bison
 
The Bloomington Bison are looking for a highly energetic and motivated public address announcer for our inaugural 2024-25 season. We are aiming to get candidates that have previous PA experience, have a strong and booming voice, and most importantly someone that is high energy and gets the crowd excited. It is also a plus to have a good amount of hockey knowledge or have previously done PA within a hockey environment. Requirements:
  • 1-2 years of experience in professional speaking (public address announcing, radio broadcasting, voice-over talent, public speaking, theatre performer)
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of hockey rules and game situations
  • High energy and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment and as part of a team
  • High ethical standards and commitment to the organization’s core values
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Flexible schedule. Must be able to work home games, nights, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Part-time role
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Announce all in-arena reads including player introductions, in-game updates and details, crowd engagement, and sponsor promotions, as needed.
  • Bring a fun and exciting atmosphere through the microphone.
  • Accurately pronounce all organization and competitor names
  • Be present for all 36 home games that are primarily weekend nights with some weekday games.
  • Abide by all ECHL Rules and Procedures while maintaining clear communication with game operations staff and production team, as well as off-ice official team.
  • Demonstrate an ability and willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Present yourself in a professional manner while in public, including all social media networks and platforms.
  • Arrive prepared prior to the game to attend game operations and production meetings
  • Follow instructions and cues of Director of Game Operations.
  • Use a PA script to follow and adapt to any game changes.
