We are hiring a Staff Accountant. If you are enthusiastic about building your financial career in the sports & entertainment industry, then we want to get to know you. Bring a willingness to learn and your strong analytical skills as you will be preparing and maintaining financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss and other related financial activities. You will report directly to the Director of Finance and will engage frequently with all departments across our entities. The Bridgeport Islanders are in Bridgeport, Connecticut at Total Mortgage Arena and are the AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders.


Show Us You Can
  • Responsibilities include account analysis, journal entries, account reconciliations, and support for the Director and Controller
  • This role will be to prepare detailed balance sheet and income statement account analysis and assist with preparation of audit requests as directed
  • Provide timely and detailed monthly/quarterly Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss account analysis as assigned, including substantiation of account balances, and recommend adjusting journal entries, where needed
  • Most schedules are used for internal, external, and tax purposes
  • Assist with completion of monthly closes
  • Provide financial support and monthly analysis to various corporate departments
  • Support accounting group day-to-day activities and complete special projects in an accurate and timely manner, as assigned
  • Recommend/improve company-wide utilization of financial systems and digital technologies to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of reporting

Your Training & Talent
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or finance
  • 2-3 years of accounting or finance experience. A mix of public and private accounting preferred
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient in Excel spreadsheet modeling along with all MS Office platforms (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint & Excel)
  • Effective written and oral communications skills
  • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment with ability to multi-task and collaborate
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours
  • Exceptional account management and customer service skills
  • Passionate and invested in your work
  • Curious to learn and build upon an already existing skill set
  • Motivated, self-starter with a no-task-too-small attitude
  • BC365 experience a plus

Where You'll Go
  • Based on current conditions, you will primarily be working a hybrid schedule (at least 3 days in the office)
  • You will report to the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, CT.
