 Job Summary:
This is a unique opportunity to join the new Professional Women’s Hockey League on the ground floor and be a part of building a successful professional league. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, positive and resilient to join the Minnesota Frost team. As a valued member of sports medicine team and under the direction of the team General Manager, Head Athletic Trainer, and Team Physician, the Performance Nutrition Consultant (Registered Dietitian) will lead the programming and execution of the Performance Nutrition Programs at Minnesota Frost. This includes coordinating the day-to-day operations of the nutrition department, coordinating educational programing for the athletes, and managing the nutrition budget while serving as a resource for athletes and staff.

Responsibilities: 
  • Directs, implements, and monitors strategic planning initiatives to ensure appropriate use of financial resources.
  • Assists with budgeting, ordering and maintaining inventory of food products and supplements.
  • Communication and collaboration with the sports medicine staff and other key stakeholders as it relates to athlete medical care and performance.
  • Coordinates and approves all team meals, including home and away pre and post-game and practice meals while ensuring player dietary restrictions and food safety standards are met. 
  • Serves as the primary point of contact and administers comprehensive evidence-based nutrition services to Minnesota athletes, including pre/post recovery, meals, supplements, and performance testing (e.g., hydration, body composition, etc.) including individual and team education and consulting.

Education:
Required
  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in dietetics, clinical nutrition, food and nutrition, or related area
Preferred
  • Master's degree in nutrition or exercise physiology preferred.
 
Qualifications:
  • Registered Dietitian (RD)
  • Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD)
  • Licensed and in good standing or eligible to become licensed by the Minnesota Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in nutrition counseling, preferably with emphasis on sports nutrition in a collegiate or professional athletic setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adaptable within a team setting
  • A positive, team-first approach, incorporating integrity, accountability, professionalism and resilience
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Adhere to all PWHL service standards and policies including Health & Safety while working in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
 
Work Type:
Part time independent contractor. It is anticipated that this role will work on average 30 hours per month from Oct 1-July 1 and then on average 8 hours per month from July 1-Oct 1 with at least one day per week being onsite during the season. This position requires some work in the evenings and weekends.
