About Us:

Climate Pledge Arena is the complete redevelopment of an historic landmark, originally built for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair.  Sitting at the base of the Space Needle on the Seattle Center campus, the arena is home to the NHL’s Seattle Kraken, WNBA's Seattle Storm, and the world's biggest performers of live music and events. Since opening in October 2021, we have hosted over 400 public events and welcomed over 4 million guests. The arena has been awarded Sports Business Journal’s Sports Facility of the Year and Pollstar’s best new concert venue and is consistently ranked within Pollstar’s top 10 for top grossing arenas worldwide.

Climate Pledge Arena is named after The Climate Pledge, an initiative founded by Amazon and Global Optimism asking global corporations to become net zero carbon by 2040.  We have one of the most progressive sustainability programs of any arena our size, including being the first and only arena in the world to achieve the International Future Living Institute’s first Zero Carbon Certification.

 

Position Summary:

As the Parking Manager, you’ll be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the Climate Pledge Arena garages.  You’ll handle the recruitment and retention of daily/monthly parkers, maintain the garages in good working order, manage pre- and post-event checklists, schedule staff for event shifts, build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and support the event and non-event transportation goals of Climate Pledge Arena.  The Parking Manager will report to the Director of Parking and Transportation and will assist in the hiring/firing of part time staff, assist in all aspects of the transportation operations including integrations with partners like Arrive, Ticketmaster, and TIBA, as well as tenants like the Seattle Kraken, Seattle Storm, full/part time staff, and artists performing at Climate Pledge Arena. The Parking Manager will be responsible for managing parking leads, parking attendants, and valets, for directing traffic, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for all guests and employees within venue parking areas, and managing the parking operations before, during, and after Climate Pledge Arena events. This position requires excellent customer service, detailed documentation, and training for new valets and parking attendants. The Parking Manager will develop a skilled and knowledgeable valet and parking attendant teams, will be able to problem solve and think on their feet, and must be able to demonstrate a business acumen skillset in order to deliver customer-focused results and drive additional revenue. Successful applicants will be immediately identifiable as helpful, courteous, and professional, as they will often be the first Climate Pledge Arena staff members guests interact with.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

  • Management of the day-to-day operations of the arena’s parking garages and any affiliated garages.  This includes ensuring the garages are in excellent working order, clean, and safe.
  • Parking Manager will assist in running pre-event activities including critical roles in scheduling staff, setting up pre-event, managing staff during events, taking down post-event, and providing timely oversight and reporting to Director of Parking and Transportation and other supervisors. 
  • Training, supervising, and assisting in management of the valet and parking attendants for Climate Pledge Arena events.

Saff Supervision:

  • Perform managerial responsibilities in accordance with department policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Responsible for maintaining department operations (e.g. payroll, event operations, supervisor schedules, generating of reports, etc.).
  • Develop, approve, and implement department policies, procedures, and reports and train staff on changes.

Customer Service:

  • Assist other departments when needed to ensure our guests’ experiences are extraordinary and memorable.
  • Address complaints and resolve issues with colleagues and guests.
  • Maintain the upkeep and cleanliness of the parking facilities.

Financial Management:

  • Responsible for the collection of revenue from the parking facilities. Audit cashiers/ticketers, complete deposit process and input financial records.
  • Assess and determine departmental needs, provide quotes, create purchase orders, and make recommendations to management for approval.
  • Provide input and analysis to department regarding developing and monitoring the budget and driving new parking revenue.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Responsible for making sure all event materials (signs, barricades, cases, etc.) are in sufficient supply; in working order and appropriately dispersed and returned for all events.
  • Work with the external stakeholders on event traffic control, permitting, and coordination.
  • Responsible for preparing incident and damage reports.

Communication:

  • Act as department and company representative in internal and external meetings.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding parking and transportation operations.
  • Prepare and communicate parking permit applications to the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) in a timely manner.

 

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Maintain understanding of venue layout, particularly the parking areas and exits.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Must have a valid driver license and can operate a motor vehicle 
  • Ability to stand throughout the duration of a scheduled shift (minimum 4 hours)
  • Ability to bend or twist at the waist to reach and move items at ground level (typically traffic cones or parking signs)
  • Must be capable of working outside in a variety of environmental conditions (heat, cold, humidity, high wind, snow, or rain)
  • A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first.
  • Must be a good communicator and collaborator.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience with large-scale events in a stadium, arena, concert setting of a similar size (18,000 seats) is desirable.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule of weekends, nights and holidays required.
  • Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairs.

Compensation:

  • In accordance with the Washington State Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the expected base pay range for this position is $78,000.00 - $90,000.00 annually. Actual base pay will depend on employee’s experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
  • This role is classified as exempt.
