Job Description:
The Kraken are looking for a music director for our Kraken drumline who can help create a high-energy, excellent, and entertaining gameday experience for fans. They will be responsible for managing ~18 band members, instruments, and miscellaneous items pertaining to the band.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Lead drumline on gamedays and execute game schedule provided by Specialist
  • Schedule members for all games and any events Specialist comes forward with
  • Attend and lead all rehearsals
  • Develop music arrangements and a catalog of music drumline can learn and execute at games and events
  • Maintain the condition of the drumline instruments and equipment
  • Lead auditions, select members to drumline and reach out to anyone that didn’t make cut
  • Collaborate on drumline show design with the Kraken Entertainment team
  • Work closely and maintain a cooperative working relationship with Specialist
  • Meet with Specialist on a bi-weekly basis to discuss state of drumline and any updates
  • Report any issues or concerns immediately to Specialist
  • Instruct the percussion technique for all instruments that includes:
  • Marching Snare Drums
  • Marching Bass Drums
  • Marching Tenor Drums
  • Marching Cymbals


Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old as of October 1st, 2024
  • Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Prior experience leading a band or drumline
  • Must be proficient at playing drums
  • Must work well with large groups of people as a leader
  • Strong communication with drumline members and Specialist
  • Comfortable in front of large crowds 
  • Flexible schedule – must be willing to attend rehearsals, 75% of games and other related activities 
  • Passionate about the Seattle Kraken   
  • Other duties as assigned

    Total Rewards Package:

    • Compensation:
      • In accordance with Washington’s Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the pay rate for this position is $37.50/hr. Actual pay will depend on employee’s experience and other job-related factors permitted by law

    Working Conditions:

    • Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required
    • Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairs.
