Position Summary:

The Seattle Kraken are looking for a unique individual to join the Entertainment Experience team that supports the Kraken Mascot, “Buoy.” The role of Mascot Understudy will assist Buoy and the Mascot Assistant on game nights and at community appearances. This position will study Buoy’s mannerisms and abilities while working on the team and learning about Team Buoy’s office responsibilities.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Study and learn Buoy’s mannerisms and characteristics
• Assist Team Buoy at all home games
• Provide support at a designated number of community appearances, including birthday parties, parades, school visits, hospital visits, charitable events, and other events coordinated by the Seattle Kraken
• Distribute promotional giveaways at events, game days, and other activations.
• Assist in maintaining the condition of costumes and props
• Other duties as assigned by Team Buoy

 

Required Experience & Qualifications:

• Must have experience as a mascot performer
• Be creative and understand non-verbal acting and communication
• Possess working knowledge of the game of hockey
• Must be available to work flexible hours, including most home games, nights, and weekends
• Must have reliable transportation as well as a valid driver’s license
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in interacting with others
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.
• Extremely organized and detail oriented, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first.
• Must be a fierce communicator and cross-organizational collaborator.

  Education and Experience:

• On-the-job training provided
• Must pass a criminal background check
  
  
  

Physical Requirements:

• Height between the range of 5’ 9” and 6’0”
• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, stretching, bending, climbing ladders, kneeling, pulling, and dancing
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
• Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions

Total Rewards Package:

• Compensation:
  • In accordance with Washington’s Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the pay rate for this position is $22/hour. Actual pay will depend on employee’s experience and other job-related factors permitted by law

Working Conditions:

• Minimal Travel (<10% travel): May be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required
• Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairs.
