Position Overview: The Macon Mayhem are seeking Broadcasting/Media Relations Interns for the 2024-2025 season. The Mayhem offer a unique internship program to students who want to enter the world of professional sports. We are looking for a strong and independent worker that can handle a wide variety of tasks. 

Timeline and Hours:
October 2024 – April 2025
Attendance at all Mayhem Home Games (Office Hours Available)
Volunteer Internship but Can be used for Course Credit 

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with setup of the broadcasting booths on gamedays (both home and away).
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and positively represent the Macon Mayhem.
  • Clip broadcast highlights together for distribution to local media upon the conclusion of the game.
  • Operate broadcast cameras during Macon Mayhem home games.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Team.
  • One on-air color commentary role available

Learning Objectives:
  • Preparing to work in a professional sports environment
  • Becoming familiar with common objectives of gameday entertainment
  • Obtaining proficiency in Adobe Suite as well as broadcasting equipment operation
  • Developing as a member of a team
  • Helping maintain positive relationships with local media outlets as well as forging new ones

Qualifications:
  • Must be able to stand for hours at a time.
  • A quick thinker who is able to follow directions as well as solve problems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Team player with the ability to relate professionally to all levels of staff, management and clientele.
  • Able to work non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings, within a team atmosphere.
  • Pursuit of Media Relations, Broadcasting or a related field preferred but no required.
