Position Overview: The Macon Mayhem are seeking Game Operations Interns for the 2024-2025 season. The Mayhem offer a unique internship program to students who want to enter the world of professional sports. We are looking for strong and independent workers that can handle a wide variety of tasks. 
 
Timeline and Hours:
October 2024 – April 2025
Attendance at all Mayhem Home Games (Office Hours Available)
Volunteer Internship but can be used for Course Credit 
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Assist in the planning/execution of game night plans including contests/promotions on the ice, the concourse, or in the stands
  • Assist in the distribution of giveaways and promotional items
  • Coordinate pregame ceremonies
  • Brainstorm and bring ideas to the staff about upcoming games, themes and in game productions
  • Other tasks, projects and responsibilities as assigned.
 
Learning Objectives:
 
  • Gain hands-on experience in sports operations and event management.
  • Develop skills in crowd management, customer service, and entertainment production.
  • Understand the logistical aspects of game day preparation and execution.
  • Enhance your organizational and task management abilities in a fast-paced environment.
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required; ability to successfully communicate with all levels of staff and the public
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong customer service skills and attention to detail
  • Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic
  • Must be able to work flexible/varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary
  • Must be available for all home games from October 2024 through May 2025
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the Macon Coliseum
  • Pursuit of Sport Management, Marketing, Communication, and/or Business degree preferred, but not required
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
