Position Overview: The Macon Mayhem are seeking Game Operations Interns for the 2024-2025 season. The Mayhem offer a unique internship program to students who want to enter the world of professional sports. We are looking for strong and independent workers that can handle a wide variety of tasks.
Timeline and Hours:
October 2024 – April 2025
Attendance at all Mayhem Home Games (Office Hours Available)
Volunteer Internship but can be used for Course Credit
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning/execution of game night plans including contests/promotions on the ice, the concourse, or in the stands
- Assist in the distribution of giveaways and promotional items
- Coordinate pregame ceremonies
- Brainstorm and bring ideas to the staff about upcoming games, themes and in game productions
- Other tasks, projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Learning Objectives:
- Gain hands-on experience in sports operations and event management.
- Develop skills in crowd management, customer service, and entertainment production.
- Understand the logistical aspects of game day preparation and execution.
- Enhance your organizational and task management abilities in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required; ability to successfully communicate with all levels of staff and the public
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong customer service skills and attention to detail
- Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic
- Must be able to work flexible/varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary
- Must be available for all home games from October 2024 through May 2025
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the Macon Coliseum
- Pursuit of Sport Management, Marketing, Communication, and/or Business degree preferred, but not required
- Computer proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
