The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs are looking for two entry-level interns who want to learn more about handling media relations for a professional sports team. The role could entail the following responsibilities:
- Social Media Management (Home and Away) – Uses premade graphics to provide live in-game updates during home and away games to the team’s social media followers.
- Media Relations Support – Will provide on-site support at home games to photographers and other third-party media outlets as needed, as well as learn how to distribute team information to media and fans.
- Broadcasting/Reporting (Optional) – Responsible for supporting the broadcaster during live pregame show and/or live intermission reports during the broadcast of a game, in addition to possibly recording in-game interviews with players/coaches that can be used throughout the broadcast as needed.
Candidates with qualifying experience will be considered for an unpaid internship, but class credit is available. Training is provided prior to the season.
Candidates must be able to communicate via headset, operate cameras and computers, ascend and descend stairs, and stand on their feet for the duration of the game.
