The Utica Comets and Utica City FC are welcoming applications to fill Gameday Game Presentation Internship positions for the 2024-25 season. 
 
Internship Term: October 2024 – April 2025, with a possible extension through June for playoffs
Location: Utica, NY
Format: On-Site
Expected Time Commitment: Gamedays only, hours vary week-to-week
 
Supervised by the Director of Game Presentation, interns will assist the game presentation team in developing a fun and engaging atmosphere for fans at the Adirondack Bank Center. Interns will primarily be scheduled to work gamedays for the Utica Comets, with additional opportunities to work select Utica City FC home games. Through this internship, participants will gain hands-on experience assisting in the preparation and execution of marketing initiatives and in-arena presentation.
 
This is an unpaid internship. Participants may qualify for academic credit if allowed by their college or university.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Support the preparation, coordination, and activation of in-arena presentation elements, including on-ice and on-field activities, from pre- to postgame as directed by the Director of Game Presentation.
  • Work together with the game presentation team (mascots, host, ice crew, performers, etc.) to manage and complete gameday tasks.
  • Promote a positive fan environment as a representative of the Utica Comets and Utica City FC by interacting with fans, VIPs, staff, and various stakeholders.
  • Assist in the activation of select group experiences (anthems, zamboni rides, etc.) as requested by the ticketing department.
  • Assist in the management and care of equipment, props, and supplies utilized by game presentation.
  • Aid other departments with gameday initiatives, as needed.
  • Additional duties and special projects as assigned.
 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
From this internship, participants will be able to take away the following skills and lessons and apply it in future roles:
 
  • Understand the process of preparing for and executing a live event in the sports industry.
  • Become familiar with run-of-show documents; how to interpret and utilize during the execution of live events.
  • Act as a front-facing member of a professional sports organization, engaging positively and professionally to a wide-range of stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with a diverse group of individuals in a professional sports environment to navigate ever-changing conditions and successfully accomplish tasks.
 
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Can maintain a high level of professionalism within a professional sports environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing game situations and can complete projects under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time; can lift up to 30 lb.
  • Must have a flexible schedule to allow commitment to at least 90% of Utica Comets home games during their internship term for the 2024-25 season. Interested applicants must be willing and able to work non-traditional hours in non-traditional settings during peak times of the year.
  • Intern will be responsible for their own housing, food, and transportation to and from the Adirondack Bank Center. Reimbursement for travel, gas, lodging, etc. is not offered with this internship.
