Position Summary:

The Manager, Operations - Events is responsible for the venue's overall set-up, presentation, and functionality. This dynamic leader will oversee a union team of Event Crew and other contracted service providers. This role is heavily involved in all the details of performing and event. This role performs at a high level, with attention to detail, and exceptional communication skills between varying level of professionals. 

Essential Functions: 

Event Operations Department Management

  • Facilitate Supervise and develop the Events Operations team establishing greater efficiency and ensuring successful events. Schedule all Operation Event Crew members and vendor labor including but not limited to court installations, Ice /Glass Install, ADA Set Ups, Table Set Ups, Banner Set Ups and Locker room support. Issue Employee Performance Discussions, write-ups, and disciplinary actions. 
  • Maintain and foster growth in employee relationships. Work closely with contracted Housekeeping team(ABM), Engineering and Maintenance to ensure fluid cleaning operations including overnight.
  • Create, update and implement department policy and procedure manual and guidelines. Ensure team compliance with venue policy and procedure. Implementing strategic inventory and tracking systems to streamline best operational processes.
  • Schedule, administer, record and report safety meetings with the Event Crew.
  • Create and communicate equipment needs lists to streamlet ordering and ongoing repairs of event equipment.

Administrative Duties

  • Coordinate monthly scheduling of Event Crew members.
  • Document and deliver any discipline to Event Crew members.
  • Assist with Daytime scheduling of Event Crew to support loading dock.

Event Support

  • Ensure all operational tasks are completed in a timely fashion before event doors.
  • Support varying teams and event manager needs in event requests.
  • Ensure proper set up and inspect that areas are set-up to expectation, including court, ice/glass, decks, ADA sections, basketball rims/stanchions.
  • Check-In with Security and the DLCL for every event.
  • Assist with any furniture moves in the building.
  • Ensure all operational tasks are completed in a timely fashion before event doors.
  • Support varying teams and event manager needs in event requests.
  • Ensure proper set up and inspect that areas are set-up to expectation, including court, ice/glass, decks, ADA sections, basketball rims/stanchions.
  • Check-In with Security and the DLCL for every event.
  • Assist with any furniture moves in the building.

Other Responsibilities

  • Assist with Forklift needs and training as necessary
  • Ongoing reporting of NBA And NHL requirements
  • Work with other operation management to plan and execute big picture programs
  • Execute a Summer Projects List

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum education level of: High School Diploma or its equivalency (BA/BS Degree Preferred).
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of event related work experience in an events-based theater or venue, including supervisory or management experience.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel) and ability to learn required business systems.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Must possess knowledge of the maintenance in operational trade and how it applies to building management.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of production and how it applies to events in venue/theater management.
  • Experience developing and implementing safety programs and trainings.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and all applicable safety standards for public facilities.
  • Must possess the ability to self-motivate.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, every changing environment.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Forklift certified or ability to obtain forklift certification.
  • Ability to work long irregular hours for extended periods as dictated by events and schedule (including nights, weekends and holidays).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Previous Union experience Local 501 Union and Local 1877 Union
  • FOMA- Facility Ops Manager Association membership
  • IAVM VMS 1 & 2

Pay Scale: $69,397 - $72,000
