Job Summary: 
The event accountant/financial analyst is responsible for preparing event projections, settling events, and generating post event profitability reports for events at all venues.  In addition, provide financial analysis support to the organization for budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, new long-term agreement opportunities, and ad-hoc requests.
 
Key Responsibilities: 

  • Analyze contractual and financial information, summarize status, and settle events
  • Reconcile ticketing reports with Box Office for each event
  • Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
  • Set-up, maintain and finalize all event files, including the preparation of journal entries
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Participate in internal and external audits as needed to ensure compliance
  • Provide financial support to senior management on strategic initiatives, contracts and ad-hoc opportunities
  • Work with the Booking and Finance to prepare break-even analyses on upcoming events, ensuring all event related cash flows are processed timely and accurately
  • Prepare asset and liability account reconciliations by compiling and analyzing account information
  • Ensure all event data, invoices, and contracts are processed and properly recorded in the accounting system and event database
  • Act in accordance with corporate accounting policies and procedures; recommend changes to current policies and procedures as needed
  • Develop strong relationships through positive interactions with partners
  • Communicate effectively with promoters, partners, and internal stakeholders
  • Complete special projects as assigned

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field and minimum of four years of related experience.  Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work
  • Possess the highest integrity and ethical standards
  • Problem solving skills that support and enable sound decision making
  • Highly organized, self-directed business style, with strong ability to prioritize
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with high standards for quality; ability to keep accurate and detailed records
  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures and controls
  • Demonstrated project management skills with strong collaboration across various levels and functions of the organization 
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship building skills, with the ability to work across all functions and vertically at all levels of the organization and clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work long or unpredictable hours on weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed

 Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of the sports and entertainment industry
  • Knowledge of ticketing systems and terminology
  • Knowledge of accounting software
  • Knowledge of Excel 

 Working Conditions: 

  • Irregular and extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Exposure to moderate – high noise level.
  • Frequent visual/auditory attention.
