THE VENUE

The Maryland Club, located within the XFINITY Center at the University of Maryland, serves club members and suite holders on game days. The venue provides an all-inclusive premium dining experience with high-end game day buffets and beverage offerings in a lively, upscale environment.

 

THE ROLE

This position is responsible for preparing and cooking food items, assisting with the execution of game day buffets, and supporting the kitchen team to ensure guest satisfaction and efficient food service. The Prep Cook will play a key role in ensuring that all ingredients are prepared and the kitchen is ready for high-quality buffet presentations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Prepare and cook food items as directed by the Executive Chef or Sous Chef, ensuring consistency and quality in all dishes.
  • Assist in the execution of game day buffets, setting up, maintaining, and replenishing food stations throughout the event.
  • Support food preparation by chopping, slicing, measuring, and organizing ingredients for various dishes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to all sanitation and safety standards, including cleaning workstations, dishes, and equipment.
  • Follow recipes and presentation guidelines to ensure the highest quality of food is served to guests.
  • Fulfill the assigned opening and closing duties and ensure proper checkout with manager/supervisor
  • Report to direct supervisor for prep lists and time lines of the days tasks
  • Ensure compliance with County Health/Sanitation standards as well as Legends Hospitality food safety standards.
  • Label and store food properly, ensuring proper rotation and minimizing waste.
  • Monitor food temperatures and presentation to ensure safety and quality.
  • Communicate effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient food service.
  • Assist with inventory management by reporting low stock and helping receive and store deliveries.
  • Contribute to a positive and professional kitchen atmosphere, working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Participate in the setup and breakdown of kitchen areas and buffets before and after events, ensuring all equipment and stations are clean and restocked.
  • Assist in other duties as assigned, including stepping in to help with other food service needs as required by the kitchen team.

 

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
  • Attend mandatory team meetings and training sessions.
  • Assist with organizing inventory and maintaining stock levels.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Provide support to the team with additional responsibilities when needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a high-volume kitchen or foodservice environment, preferably in premium services, catering, or concessions for a sports/entertainment venue.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred.
  • ServSafe Certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality guest service and following safety procedures.
  • Must be punctual and dependable
  • Must be flexible to work extended hours, including late nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and remain standing for long periods.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to make decisions and take responsibility for tasks without immediate supervision.
  • A positive attitude, always maintaining professional demeanor and guest service.
