THE ROLE   

The Regional Merchandise Director is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and management of merchandising activities within a COLORADO region. This role involves leading a team, collaborating with cross-functional departments, and driving sales through effective merchandising strategies. The Regional Merchandise Director ensures that all stores within the region adhere to the company’s merchandising standards, maximize sales opportunities, and meet customer needs.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Strategic Planning and Execution:
    • Develop and implement merchandising strategies that align with the company's overall objectives.
    • Analyze regional market trends. customer preferences, and competitive activities to inform merchandising decisions.
    • Create seasonal and promotional merchandising plans that drive sales and profitability
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of merchandise managers, coordinators and associates. 
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to improve team performance.
    • Ensure that the merchandise team is aligned with the company's vision and goals.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Oversee the planning and management of inventory levels across the region.
    • Collaborate with buying and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of merchandise.
    • Monitor stock levels and make adjustments to ensure optimal product availability.
  • Sales Analysis and Reporting:
    • Monitor and analyze sales performance across the region, identifying opportunities for improvement.
    • Prepare and present regular reports on sales, inventory, and merchandising activities to senior management. 
    • Use data-driven insights to adjust merchandising strategies and improve regional performance. 
  • Store Operations and Visual Merchandising:
    • Ensure all stores in the region adhere to company visual merchandising standards.
    • Work closely with store managers to optimize store layouts, product displays, and promotional setups. 
    • Conduct regular store visits to assess compliance and provide guidance on merchandising best practices.
  • Budget Management:
    • Develop and manage regional merchandising budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
    • Track and control expenses related to merchandising activities, ensuring the align with the approved budget.
    • Identify cost saving opportunities without compromising on quality or effectiveness.
  • Customer Experience:
    • Ensure that merchandising efforts contribute to a positive and consistent customer experience across all stores in the region.
    • Gather feedback from customers and store teams to continuously improve merchandising strategies.
  • Client Management:
    • Insure reporting and client alignment.
    • Lead client meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, or a related field. An MBA is a plus.
  • Proven experience in a senior merchandising role, preferably within a retail environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel frequently within the region.

Work Environment:

  • The role typically involves a mix of office work and travel to stores within the COLORADO region.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours as needed.

Reporting:

  • The Regional Merchandise Director reports to the EVP of Partnerships.
