ADVANCED PRACTICE PRACTITIONER (APP)
CLASSIFICATION:
Year-round; approximately 30 hour a week
FLSA: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Sports Medicine Director
LOCATION: Center of Excellence – Park City, Utah
TRAVEL: <30 days a year
TOTAL COMPENSATION: $80,000, 3% annual bonus potential

U.S. Ski & Snowboard is seeking an advanced practice practitioner or similar to fulfill the role of Sports Medicine APP (or equivalent).  This is a full-time, beneficial position eligible for our full benefits package including medical insurance and retirement. SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Sports Medicine APP (or equivalent) will work closely with the Sports Medicine Director as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing medical management assistance and insight into applied high performance services for U.S. Ski & Snowboard (USSS) athletes. They will be also be responsible for the medical coordination for our Para alpine and Para Snowboard programs. This includes but is not limited to the organization of medical coverage (PT/AT and Physicians) for traveling teams, providing assistance to the Head Team Physician in coordinating care, maintaining medical records, and organizing annual physicals. Weekend, early morning or evening work may be required to deliver high performance services, especially during the competition season and when traveling with teams. The position will allow the provider to retain or obtain up to 4 days a month of clinical work at a local medical facility to maintain broader clinical practice.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Athlete Experience
    • Assisting the Sports Medicine Director in the oversight and management of athletic injuries including evaluation, care, treatment and rehabilitation of USSS named national team athletes.
    • Facilitation of appropriate medical referrals when needed for further evaluation and management of medical issues related to care of the athlete. 
    • Medical coordination for Para Alpine and Para Snowboarding which includes coordinating physician and PT/AT services throughout the season in addition to maintaining a general oversight of athlete medical status for respective teams. 
    • Contribute to weekly athlete medical meetings as a member of the Sports Medicine Team. 
  • Operational Excellence
    • Contributing to staff education opportunities for sports medicine staff in addition to annual education conferences (MESS) offered to the USSS medical. 
    • Assist in departmental administrative tasks as overseen by the Sports Medicine Director.
    • Assist in maintenance of proper communication with High Performance, Coaching staff and Administrative staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE
  • Certifications: Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or similar degree
  • Licensure in Physician’s Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.  Required to have a current Utah license or be eligible for such licensure. 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of post-training clinical experience. A focus in sports medicine, orthopedics, or primary care is preferred but not required. 
  • Current CPR certification 
  • A proven history that demonstrates outstanding communication and people management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on a multidisciplinary team including but not limited to physicians, support staff, medical staff, coaches, athletes, community partners, and corporate sponsors.
  • Strong written and organization skills required.
  • Strong competency in computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and Google tools and medical databases/EMRs. 
  • Some travel required based on budget and prioritized team needs throughout the year with a focus on the winter season. 
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE
Must be able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly
