ABOUT US CLUB SOCCER:
A National Association member of the U.S. Soccer Federation, US Club Soccer fosters the growth and development of soccer clubs in order to create the best possible development environment for players of all ages. Anchored by Players First and its five pillars of Club Development, Coaching Development, Player Development, Parent Engagement & Education and Player Health & Safety, US Club Soccer offers registration, league- and cup-based competition platforms, player identification and a variety of other programming, resources and services.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

The Director, Player Development & Identification provides leadership and oversight of all US Club Soccer player pathway programming and supports league-hosted talent identification and development programs. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Establish & leverage meaningful connections with club directors and coaches and league program directors. 
  • Provide feedback to existing, and help develop new, league-hosted talent identification and development programs.
  • Work with ECNL leadership to build talent identification programming.
  • Identify, hire, and oversee the development of network scouts and coaches.
  • Monitor the evolution of the women’s and men’s national and international landscape.
  • Lead shared decision-making process, final audit, and quality assurance of player selection process for id2.
  • Build effective and supportive relationships with US Club Soccer leagues, and U.S. Soccer Sporting department. 
  • Coordinate internally and externally to build annual calendar around program goals.
  • Maintain annual database of scouted / recommended players for id2 events.
  • Serve on U.S. Soccer committees and working groups as assigned.

Evening/weekend work and travel are required.

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU NEED:
This position requires an individual who is proactive, motivated, of high integrity, and able to work cooperatively in a team environment while representing US Club Soccer in a professional manner. Additional qualifications are as follows:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution, or equivalent previous work experience.
  • U.S. Soccer “B” License or equivalent and U.S. Soccer Talent Scout License or international equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience with a club or national team program.
  • Knowledge of the domestic and international soccer landscape/pathway (youth/pro) and trends.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Ability to use discretion and handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Proficiency with applicable software programs, such as Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient with data, video editing and scout technology platforms (i.e., Opta, Hudl, Sportscode, Wyscout, etc.).
  • Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish preferred.

NOTES:
This position is employed by Wasserman for US Club Soccer. Compensation consists of a base salary and benefits as outlined in employment and US Club Soccer staff documents.
