Position Overview:
The Ambassador Engagement - West is responsible for overseeing USA Pickleball’s Western Sector, which includes specific regions and a range of volunteer ambassadors. This role supports USA Pickleball's initiatives by engaging with volunteer leadership, promoting the sport's growth, and managing ambassador programs within the sector.  Reporting to the Managing Director of Recreational Programs.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Sector Management:
  • Work with the Managing Director to develop and implement a strategic plan for engaging volunteer leadership and ambassadors to support USA Pickleball's growth initiatives.
  • Lead efforts within the sector to support USA Pickleball priorities at the sector, region, district, and local levels, including but not limited to membership retention and recruitment, facility development, recreational program growth (clubs, leagues, youth), and event participation.
  • Oversee and lead the ambassadors and regional leaders in the Western Sector.
Volunteer Management and Recruitment:
  • Oversee and lead ambassador recruitment within the sector to maintain a strong volunteer base.
  • Using the USA Pickleball Code of Conduct, monitor and address ambassador conduct, ensuring disciplinary matters are handled swiftly and efficiently.
Program and Event Support:
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of online training programs for ambassadors.
  • Support the development and execution of events such as retreats, academies, and other training opportunities to enhance ambassador engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with USA Pickleball departments on special projects and initiatives to support organizational goals.
Strategic Planning and Reporting:
  • Provide monthly updates on USA Pickleball news, sector initiatives, and best practices to ambassadors and regional leaders.
  • Assist in managing the sector's budget and finances, ensuring alignment with USA Pickleball’s overall objectives. 
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with USA Pickleball departments on special projects and initiatives, fostering a collaborative and united approach.
  • Serve as a liaison between the ambassadors and the Managing Director, ensuring open communication and consistent updates on sector activities.
 
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Experience:
  • Proven experience in volunteer management and recruitment, preferably in a sports or nonprofit environment.
  • Strong knowledge and appreciation of pickleball, both at recreational and competitive levels.
Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead and inspire volunteers.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and comfortable with virtual training platforms.
Other:
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for meetings, events, and ambassador engagements.
