Position Summary 
 
The Human Resources Manager supports all human resource functions for USA Triathlon including talent acquisition, performance management, total rewards, payroll and benefits administration, training and development, and employee relations.  This role is also responsible for office management as well as playing a influential role in our cultural initiatives. In partnership with the Human Resources Director, the Manager is responsible for delivering an industry-leading employee experience and accomplishing the organization’s people goals. 
 
FLSA Status: Non-exempt or Exempt (pending starting wage) 
Pay Range: $53,000 - 65,000 annually 
Reports To: Human Resources Director 

Essential Job Functions
  
  • Leads the talent acquisition process by working closely with hiring managers to determine the unit’s needs and develop/update job descriptions. Creates job postings, engages in active recruitment as needed, conducts initial screenings, and manages the interview process. Ensures hiring managers are properly trained and supported in making objective, job-relevant hiring decisions. Administers job offers and background checks.
  • Manages the onboarding process for all new hires including, but not limited to, ensuring completion of all required new hire paperwork, creation and maintenance of employee personnel files and ensuring employment data is maintained in the HRIS, ensuring a welcoming and robust process involving key staff and stakeholders so that new hires are set up for success.
  • In collaboration with the Director, oversees benefits administration including, but not limited to, annual enrollment, working with our broker to negotiate competitive rates and plan changes, training and supporting employees, and managing all requests related to leave, benefits, and employee communication. Assists in resolutions of benefits-related problems and ensures effective use of plans. 
  • Manages all employment data, workflows, and troubleshooting within the HRIS including employment, pay, benefits, performance reviews, and reporting. Audits payroll reports and vendor reporting to reconcile benefit billing and ensure file feeds are operating accurately. Work collaboratively with HRIS support, Finance, employees, and third-party vendors to resolve any issues that occur. 
  • Serves as a backup in the bi-weekly payroll process when needed, ensuring accuracy of pay, deductions, benefits, and reporting. Works collaboratively with Finance to ensure seamless payroll processing to G/L.
  • Administers performance reviews through the HRIS. Works with the Director to manage performance process, audit reviews, train supervisors, and ensure timely completion. Assists in counseling on performance concerns and advises on career paths/development opportunities. 
  • Serve as the primary contact for unemployment and worker’s compensation claims. Provide relevant information and submit responses in a timely manner. Work closely with Legal, Risk, and Compliance on liability issues. 
  • Coordinates separation processes to ensure compliance with State and Federal requirements including COBRA, exit interviews, benefit transition(s), and final pay. 
  • Assists and supports the Director in the following: Developing, planning, and executing professional development opportunities for staff; Coaching and counseling employees regarding employee concerns; Auditing and maintaining a competitive annual compensation program; Supporting and managing organizational culture initiatives (in HR or through the Culture Club); and managing employee rewards and recognition.
  • Serves as the office manager. Manages office supply inventory and re-ordering, maintains kitchen supplies and cleaning schedule, delivers incoming mail to recipients, communicates maintenance needs to building managers, and other office management duties.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
  •  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Payroll/HRIS systems. 
  • Working knowledge of general human resource functions and procedures, including but not limited to federal and state labor laws and benefits administration. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information, interpersonal issues, and employee concerns. 
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational and communication skills. 
 
Qualifications 
 
  • Bachelor’s degree required (or a combination of education and experience that yields the required knowledge, skills, and abilities); Master’s in Human Resources (or a related field) preferred. 
  • 4– 6 years of general human resources experience required. 
  • 1-3 years of talent acquisition experience ideal.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard. 
  • Required to work on site Monday through Friday; some evening or weekend work required (~5%)
