OVERVIEW
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) is an MLS soccer club serving the greater Los Angeles area. LAFC is invested in the world’s game and Los Angeles, constructing, and developing the 22,000 seat BMO Stadium and a top-flight training center on the campus of Cal-State Los Angeles.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager plans, directs, and manages all aspects of day-to-day accounting and banking for all legal entities, and oversees the daily financial operations of the company. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy of our financial statements, maintaining robust internal controls, and supporting the company’s financial objectives.  The ideal candidate is detailed oriented and passionate about the development and implementation of accounting processes and procedures to enhance overall effectiveness. 
 
This role reports to the VP, Financial Planning and Analysis. 
 
LAFC is currently operating on a hybrid work model with a minimum of 1 – 2 in-office days per week. Please note that this may vary by role, and your scheduled in-office days are up to the discretion of your supervisor.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Financial Reporting:
·      Assist in the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
·      Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
·      Manage the general ledger, including the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
·      Support monthly settlements with Major League Soccer (MLS), Angel City Football Club (ACFC), and BMO Stadium events.
·      Support game related ticket settlements for MLS.
 
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
·      Oversee and guide the accounts payable and receivable functions, processes and transactions to ensure timely processing, coding and preparation of payment files.
·      Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to vendor or customer account.
 
Month End/Year End Close:
·      Lead the month-end close process, including preparation, review, and approval, as appropriate, of all monthly journal entries, revenue recognition, and all account reconciliation.
·      Analyze account activity including researching, identifying, and proposing corrections where appropriate.
·      Track and reconcile fixed asset related activities including construction-in-process (CIP) assets.
 
Internal Controls:
·      Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
·      Identify areas for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and drive changes to reduce close cycle time.
·      Assist with annual audits (financial, tax, business tax, agreed-upon procedure) including, but not limited to samples; support schedules; analysis questions; and other requirements.
·      Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and other external parties as necessary.
 
Cash Management:
·      Oversee the management of cash and assist with cash forecasts.
·      Oversee and manage accounts receivable to ensure timely receipt of cash.
·      Manage relationships with financial institutions and oversee banking activities.
 
Other:
·      Provide financial analysis on various activities/special projects.
·      Assist with MLS specific reporting as needed.
·      Other ad hoc projects, analyses, and duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
·      Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College/University in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required. 
·      Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an accounting role required, within sports/entertainment industry preferred.
·      CPA preferred, not required. 
·      Experience with Sage Intacct preferred, not required. 
·      Detail-oriented and driven self-motivator with a strong work ethic to get the job done.
·      Ability to analyze processes and procedures to make improvements.
·      Excellent organizational and time management skills.
·      Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently – both written and verbal.
·      Ability to work productively and multi-task in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions.
·      Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs (Excel, Access, Power Point, and Outlook).
·      Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
 
SALARY RANGE
At LAFC, we carefully consider a wide range of factors to determine a fair and equitable compensation package. The final offer amount will consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience and training; and other business and organizational needs. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure guidelines, the overall range for this role is up to $125,000 per year.
