CHSN is seeking a talented Broadcast Engineer to join our Broadcast Technical Operations Team. As a key member of the Broadcast Engineering Team, the Broadcast Engineer will manage critical projects, ensuring technical execution aligns with production objectives. Under the guidance of senior engineers, this role offers opportunities for growth and requires technical expertise and adaptability. You’ll work closely with the Director of Broadcast Technical Operations and the Senior Broadcast Engineer to ensure seamless broadcasts and deliver top-tier viewer experiences across multiple platforms. 
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Lead Engineering: Serve as the principal engineer for remote, studio, and cloud-based productions, ensuring smooth operations. 
  • Project Management: Oversee schedules and collaborate with teams to meet production goals. 
  • Technical Support: Provide engineering support across control rooms, studios, and cloud environments. 
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose system issues, perform root cause analysis, and manage escalations. 
  • Facility Management: Assist with facility builds, upgrades, and repairs. 
  • Documentation: Maintain system documentation and update SOPs. 
  • System Maintenance: Install updates and perform preventative maintenance on equipment. 
  • Technology Integration: Test, install, and integrate new technologies. 
  • Vendor Coordination: Manage third-party network and NOC services. 
  • Collaboration: Foster teamwork and resolve technical issues with senior management. 
  • Performance & Compliance: Ensure operational procedures meet performance standards. 
  
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:  
  • 2-5+ years in live broadcast engineering, with remote production experience. 
  • BA/BS in Communications, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering. 
  • Adaptability in high-pressure environments with competing deadlines. 
  • Expertise in broadcast technology and IT, including networking and IP configuration. 
  • Proven experience in maintaining and troubleshooting production equipment. 
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, able to work independently or in teams. 
  • Professionalism, problem-solving, and quick, accurate work in fast-paced settings. 
  • Strategic thinking, organization, and self-motivation. 
  • Passion for sports, broadcasting, and live production. 
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and travel internationally. 
Physical Requirements: 
  • Ability to work 8–12-hour shifts, sometimes up to 18 hours. 
  • Able to walk or stand for up to 8 hours, lift 50-75 lbs., and perform physical tasks such as bending, squatting, and climbing stairs. 
  • Able to push, pull, and grip equipment and occasionally work in confined spaces. 
  
The Chicago Sports Network (CHSN) will launch in October across multiple platforms. The network will air more than 300 live Blackhawks, Bulls and White Sox games annually and include pre- and postgame coverage while showing multisport programming 24 hours a day. CHSN will broadcast from studios located in both Chicago's United Center and Guaranteed Rate Field. The network will start airing Blackhawks and Bulls preseason games in October, showing White Sox games beginning in 2025.
